Guest antz Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 I am having problems working SPV from Longhorn. This is what I did: I'm running Windows Longhorn 4051 Installed ActiveSync 3.7.1, it whinged for a bit about driver signatures but itstalled, SPV connected and synchronised. The problem is: I can't get into the filesystem of the SPV with explorer.exe. My Computer has the "Mobile Device" icon in it, but double clicking it causes no navigation. My best guess is that they didn't compile support for navigating smartphones into Longhorn's explorer, thus eliminating a posible cause of blue screens. That is all very well, but I'd like to access the SPV's filesystem. Has anyone made a Smartphone Navigator of some description? If not, does anyone have any ideas on how may it be possible to make one (ie what APIs are responsible for accessisg Smartphone?). Interestingly enough Media Player 9.00.00.3075 has no difficulty looking through the SPV's directory tree and accessisg the files within. If worst comes to worst it may be possible to mangle Media Player to work.. although I'm not sure if MP's APIs for accessing MP3 players is public or not.
Guest Trulli Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Your not alone :) Well i run XP but the problem seems to be the SPV (assuming you also have the E200?). For some reason something in the phone isnt correctly and thats why we cant explore it, i sure hope they fix this with a patch soon cause its really annoying not being able to store stuff on the phone itself directly from your pc. I tried that WMP thing but couldnt get it done, it doesnt see a mobile device here and making a shortcut and then accessing it doesnt help either. Only temp thing is installing that Smart Explorer from your phone so you can at least access SD cards.
Guest antz Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 No, I have the original SPV and it used to work in the days of XP. However I have not heard of that issue with the E200s and XP. I guess it goes to show how often I come here... So you say other programs can interact with your phone but you cant browse it from Explorer? That's interesting, I wonder if anyone knows why that is. What do you use to transfer files then?
Guest nedge2k Posted January 6, 2004 Report Posted January 6, 2004 I think the problem stems from async 3.7. I Never had problems before using that, now have to explore-close-explore-close to get it to register phone. Try an earlier async. *XP* *SPV* *SPV E200* *ASync 3.7*
Guest antz Posted January 7, 2004 Report Posted January 7, 2004 Downgrading windows did the trick :) Thanks
