Guest n10 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 It's strange for me to see that a lot of people here are happy with their e100/tanager. After using it for some time, here's my problems: - my sd card always got disconnected (the phone cannot read it. Fix: have to reinsert card). This cause a lot of problems. all my software are installed in sd so it give error when I try to run them. My ringtones/sms alert (wav) are stored in sd card. If the phone can't see the file when needed, tones are set to default. - sms tones won't stop although the msg is already read. I was embarrassed when my phone won't stop playing a 3min song in the bus. Can't any programmers here make a tool that can stop sms tone when needed? - battery don't last very long. - the menu lags alot (with speedmenu tweak installed doesn't make a difference). - when playing mp3 in the background the phone slows down to a crawl. strange that a nokia 3650 can play mp3 in the background without a noticeble lag. - no builtin voice tag and picture caller id. - no stopwatch (one that really work). How smart is that? - no increasing tone Time for me to change phone? Help..
Guest Jasonkruys Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Problem one - Seems like a fault with your phone, I have NEVER had this problem, and I have not heard of it before. Solution: Orange Problem two - On receiving an SMS, it will play the sms tone. If the sms tone is 3 mins long, it will play it for 3 minutes! Solution: use a more sensible length tone. Problem three - Is an issue which I believe has been improved slightly in last update. Solution: none. see thread about sd cards also. Problem four - again, i dont experience the menus lagging at all, again something improved in the last update. Perhaps it is programs you have running in the background hogging resources (gprs counter etc) Problem five - Increasing tone, what do you mean? In the profile editing there is an option for increasing ring, is this not what you mean?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 It sounds like what you want isn't offered by the Smartphone platform. Also take into consideration everything the SPV's can do. Complete integration with Outlook, free software (not nasty java applets), excellent phone features etc. The SD card problem you have sounds like a hardware fault, and if so should be repaired under warrnty (unless you did something silly like try and stuff bacon into the slot). The battery life is admittedly not as good as other phones, i get around 2 days out of mine, however i charge it every night. The menu lag i haven't noticed as much with more recent updates. mp3 playback does lag the phone, i'll give you that one :) voice tag and caller id is available, at a price Theres a free, basic stopwatch available on my site increasing tone, presumably on the ringtones?
Guest [email protected] Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I recently got a E100, best phone i've ever had..admitidly its not the fastest fone while listening to music ...but it does alot more to cover that. Also one thing that is annoying and does P*ss me off alot is the battery, 1-2 days max, i know its due to the small TFT screen but surely there must be something someone can do. Come on you guys out there were all countin on you to do something for us with this problem. :)
Guest n10 Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 regarding the long sms tone that I use. I need it cos if I left the phone in the bedroom and I received an sms I tend to miss it due to the short tone. don't seem to be any option for repeat tone. anybody got the incresing tone working?
