Guest craigblade Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I currently have an spv phone on orange monthly. Is it quite straightforward to use my SPV with an O2 sim-card, if I was to sim unlock the phone? Are there any features which I would not be able to use, or is it just a case of altering some of the settings? The reason why I want to do this, is because I have Orange OVP O2 100 tariff which gives me 100 mins and 100 texts for £26. If I get an O2 online sim card I get 100 mins and 500 texts for £20, which seems like a better deal. craig
Guest sponge Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Can you not just call Orange and get them to match that tariff instead? I thought Orange did that :?:
Guest martin Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 There should be no problems using an O2 SIM except for Orange specific applications like Orange backup, Orange World, etc. As sponge said its always worth speaking to Orange first to see if they can offer you a better deal. Guest craigblade Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I'll check with orange, but I think I read somewhere that they don't match O2 ONLINE tariffs. They will only match the tariffs that are being offered by the major high street shops. Thanks for the replies though. craig

You will need to enter the O2 settings for GPRS etc. But once that's done everything should be hunky Dory!! Jim

Guest [email protected] Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I have my SPV on O2 and i even managed to get all the orange services to work, log onto orange update and it welcomes you with open arms and the same with orange backup it just lets you log on and set a username and password. The great ppl at orange always thinking of the people at O2 and all that  One thing that takes a while is setting your GPRS, Wap , and all that kinda stuff but all the settings are on this forum sumwhere, pretty useful site i'd say :)
Guest craigblade Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Cheers for the info. I'm hoping that Orange might offer me some sort of incentive in order for me to stay with them when my contract expires, but if not I probably will just buy an O2 (Online) sim card and place in my SPV. I am currently sending about 200 texts per month, and with my OVP O2 100 tariff it is costing me £26 + £8 for a text bundle - totaling about £35ish. Orange do have a Your Plan tariff which offers 100 mins and 250 texts for £25, but this is only available to new customers unfortunately - if I could somehow get orange to give me this tariff I would definately stay with orange. craig
