No, the menu is not stating that the radio is on, its stating that 'Radio on' is a selectable option. Click radio on to turn the radio on :)

please forgive my ignorance, I have been told there is no real 'Radio' function on the E200, it's called flight mode and just turns of the cell reciever but why in the 'About' Screen does it have a radio version number?

Can anyone please explain?

Cheers

It was originally call radio OFF/ON but was then renamed to Aeroplane mode ON/OFF. Maybe it was decided that people mostly de-activate the Radio side of the phone when the go on aeroplanes so why not just rename it.

In the SPV, Radio refers to the Radio Interface which is the physical link carrying data between mobiles and the Base Transceiver Station (i.e. the cell). It's the SPV Radio software that allows communication to the mobile networks.

im sorry for my ignorence but i still do not understand this 'aeroplane'!! i have downloaded the upgrade from orange and my operator ROM is currently 1.6.1.10 and i was just wondering wat was radio!? when i bought my phone it came with the 'radio' selection , however since the upgrade it is now aeroplane! i was just litterally wondering... WHAT IS AEROPLANE!! AND WHAT DOES IT DO!? :?:

Great site guys!! keep up the good work! Cheers :)

The AEOPLANE feature is on the SPV E200. The RADIO function is on the SPV/E100. Both do the same thing but they are called different things in the different phone versions. Basically, as martin said, they just turn on and off the radio transceiver on the phone which is the bit you use to make and receive calls. With it off, your phone gets no signal and youcan't make or receive any calls. With it on, it works like a normal phone.

ok radio and aeroplane..

Here's the lowdown

When you turn the Radio OFF (ie you click 'Radio OFF') the phone is in 'flight mode/hospital mode'

When you turn the Aeroplane ON (ie you click 'Aeroplane ON') the phone is in 'flight mode/hospital mode'

flight mode/hospital mode mean that the 'cell phone' bit of your phone is turned off. so you cannot make or recieve calls. (ie it will let you play games, view calendar etc).. so in theory it's safe for use in hospitals and on planes (BUT CHECK WITH THE STAFF/FLIGHT ATTENDANTS FIRST)

I hope that clears the confusion up a bit!

for normal use you should see 'Radio Off' or 'Aeroplane ON' as options.
