Guest ele-mental Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 i have an i600, and i've gone in and customized the programs list (IPSM/Windows/Start Menu) by organizing the links into folders. it works great, except that when i reboot the phone, the default MRU links (Inbox, Contacts, Calender, IE, Solitaire) are all broken. is there a way to modify the MRU plugin so it points to the actual .exes, or at least to the updated shortcuts? thanks in advance!
Guest drblow Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Do you mean the icons dont work, or the actual link to the app itself? I thought the MRU plugin just remembered where you last opened an app from & ran it.
Guest ele-mental Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 i mean the initial 5 icons that come up when my phone starts. they're white icons with the MS logo that give me an error because they point to the original shortcuts in IPSM/WINDOWS/START MENU. any other apps i run show up fine in the mru, it's just the initial 5 that give me problems. Guest awesterink Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 The only way to get those initial 5 icons to show up is to put them back in the root of the Start Menu. If you do not want to see them there, just make a copy of them, and change the properties of the shortcuts in the Start Menu root to "Hidden".
Guest ele-mental Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 thanks, i'll try that when i get home! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest carlosp_uk Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 I tried this myself - and I can't work out how to change the properties to 'Hidden'. Three ways that failed: 1) Windows Explorer - the attributes are greyed out 2) Copying to PC - the 'hidden' attribute is ghosted out. 3) From SmartExplorer - error 'Cannot change properties' How do you do it?
Guest scott2eyes Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 It's possible to change the shortcuts the MRU points to by default on startup- check Midnight's thread on registry tweaks (in the "Articles" forum.) That should sort out your problem- assuming that you're happy and able to play with the registry.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did, but got the error "Cannot change properties" - annoyingly! Perhaps it was opened elsewhere...?
Guest awesterink Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Hmmmm. Try first selecting a home screen that does NOT show the MRU shortcuts. Like you said, perhaps the fact that the MRU icons are displayed flags them as "in-use".
