Guest kelv23 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Just to let you know if you use your SPV on PAYG,been to an orange shop today to find out why I cant get the SPV unlocked thorugh the website, reason is because the service is only available to contract customers doesnt say anything about it on the site but there it is. Got the feeling I was some sort of second rate customer because of this too,me "its on PAYG not contract....".shop monkey"well you just cant do it then". No hint of "sorry" or "you could try...." just ,"we dont make any money out of PAYG,its not worth it....".
Guest csuperblue Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 That is a load of crap they have told you as I am on virgin with my spv and I unlocked using the ota unlocking using pass through internet with my phone on my cradle. If you need to know how to do it just research it as it is very easy to do
Guest PritenC Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 I'm on Orange Pay As You Go and I havve successfully unlocked over the air!! This is a pile of c**p
Guest kelv23 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 I've just spoken to orange and its not one of their sites which I didnt know, its an approved site through another company or something. This still doesnt explain why it doesnt work though I'm still in the same position
Guest martin Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Unfortunately the Orange shop guy hasn't go a clue  I'm sure there are a some Orange shop people out there who could have helped you but it seems to be 'luck of the draw' in getting someone who actually knows what they are talking about. As far as GPRS goes you can do everything on PAYG that you can do on contract. I have also just stuck an Orange PAYG SIM in my phone and successfully unlocked using the OTA service and GPRS :) I had to change the APN from orangeinternet to payginternet to get the GPRS Internet working but thats all.
Guest rickt Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 There are other methods available to un-lock your phone. I recently bought a S/H SPV locked onto Orange. I upgraded the software , un-locked the Sim Card and De-certed the applications all by the use of software. The information for this is out there, you'll have to look for it , especially the software for de-cert [coz it's illegal] .But you can do as I did with your phone without even connecting to Orange.Hope this helps
Guest kelv23 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Finally got it done!! had to take a 15 mile round trip drive to the top of the nearest mountain to get a FULL signal AND GPRS but it made the difference.I can now brag to all my mates about how much better my phones is compared to their stoneage NOKIAS. If you are in the midlands and want to know here this mythical signal area is follow the nearest rainbow that leads to a mountain,oh and dont forget a few carrots and a cube of sugar for the unicorn guarding the entrance. Thanks to all who replied with help
