Guest lilngineer Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 Hello group, I have installed the Moto "generic" ROM floating around on my AT&T branded phone. I can confirm that the ROM works fine, but I am not sure how "generic" the ROM really was. It seems to be branded with splash screens from Orange Mobile. Now to my question... How do you change te Orange Mobile Operator splash screen on the startup? I have located the appropriate files in the windows folder, but they are write protected and hidden. Therefore, I cannot change them or delete them to replace with another. Is thera way around this? I have heard that the images are "burned" into the ROM. If so, wouldn't there be a registry fix that can made to bypass these images and use others of a different name? The other threads I have found about changing the splash screen do not seem to apply with this ROM. Surely somebody out there can figure out where this info is stored within the registry of the generic ROM. You help/comments are appreciated.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 The start up screen can only be changed by hacking the ROM so for the general user this is not possible.
Guest lilngineer Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Actually, it can be done with the Screen Changer 2 program located on coolsmartphone.com I don't believe this program is actually editing the images, but it masks them real well!
Guest lilngineer Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 BTW, awarner: Is there a way to hack into the ROM should one decide to do so? Or better yet, is there a way to write an image copy of a exiting ROM as it is configured on a smatphone? FYI, I have a moto mpx200.
