Moto MPx200 Generic ROM & Splash Screens

Hello group,

I have installed the Moto "generic" ROM floating around on my AT&T branded phone. I can confirm that the ROM works fine, but I am not sure how "generic" the ROM really was. It seems to be branded with splash screens from Orange Mobile.

Now to my question... How do you change te Orange Mobile Operator splash screen on the startup? I have located the appropriate files in the windows folder, but they are write protected and hidden. Therefore, I cannot change them or delete them to replace with another. Is thera way around this? I have heard that the images are "burned" into the ROM. If so, wouldn't there be a registry fix that can made to bypass these images and use others of a different name? The other threads I have found about changing the splash screen do not seem to apply with this ROM. Surely somebody out there can figure out where this info is stored within the registry of the generic ROM. You help/comments are appreciated

I actually did find a copy of it, thx. It works nicely to override the existing ones within the ROM. Can I ask where you got the homepage layout you have on your post? I am particularly interested in the battery meter icon at the top!

Yes there is a program 2 do this, havnt tried it yet. simply use PHM Registry Editor.

Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftSplash Screen"

Edit the following to point to your own image.

"CarrierShutdownBitmap" is the shutdown screen just before the phone powers off.

"MSBitmap" is the startup screen just after the HelloMoto.

"CarrierBitmap" is the Windows Smartphone Logo splash.

Save an image in your "IPSMMy Documents" folder. They can be either JPG or GIF. Image size must be 176x220.

Note most images on the phone are 176x200, ok for home screens but not startup/shutdown screens
