Guest jonnie darko Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I am totally stumped on this one. I have converted mp3 to wav (pcm) then adjusted the length to reduce the file size. However, changer sonneries doesn't want to know. As far as its concerned they don't exist Could this be due to the size of the wav file? Even though I have cut them down to 30-50 secs, they are still between 3mb and 9mb. This is not a problem for my memory card as i have 256mb and it is only half full. But could this be the reason for my problems? Any advice anyone could give would be greatly appreciated
Guest actionj Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 I use Cooledit to convert 15-30 mp3 clips to PCM wav files @ 11,025hz - 8bit -mono. They end up being around 200-300k and still sound great. Then you put these files in SmartphoneIPSMApplication DataSounds. If you want to use your SD card, put them in a folder called my documents on the SD card. Note however that in order to use the SD tones for the custom contact ring tones, you need to do a registry tweak. I don't remember the tweak from memory, but it's posted in this forum somewhere

Guest jonnie darko Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 Thanks for the advice. It now works perfectly. Though the quality is not up to my previous conversion (background hiss) but hey this works and mine didn't. Thanks again.
Guest actionj Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 As long as the files are PCM they will work. You can up the quality if you want, but once the wav file starts to get at 1 meg or above, i'd assume the phone would have problems with it and become chunky. Also performing the tweak to get your ringtones to work off the SD card is risky and can cause crashes, so I like to keep the size down.
