Guest andydykes Posted January 3, 2004 Report Posted January 3, 2004 This software works great with the SPV but not with the SPV E200 any ideas?
Guest ChrisP Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I got it to work using my e200 through Bluetooth but it crashed when I tried to sync. I can't, however, get it to work using the USB cradle. Chris
Guest ChrisP Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Anyone got this working with the E200 yet? Chris
Guest NeilStewart Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 My copy crashes my Mac at work when I try to sync. Another waste of money... :)
Guest PocketMac Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Hi, A fix was issued on Tuesday Jan 12th to address this; everyone who had support tickets on this topic would have been notified already. Hope this helps...
Guest NeilStewart Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Will have to try the fix - thanks for letting us know. I'll post here if it works!
Guest spark303 Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Any news on whether this is working with the e200 yet?
Guest NeilStewart Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Don't know about e200; still crashes my Mac at work, zero assistance from the developers, and no reply to request for refund
Guest Ma_rK Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 It's a pitty there aren't any trail versions of this little bit of software
Guest gadget007 Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Have completely uninstalled, and reinstalled to try and get it working. Still no dice. I can connect my E200 via USB, not Bluetooth, but cant get it to sync contacts, etc with either mail or Entourage. Managed to install ONE cab file, but no .exe files even though it has, potentially, the capability. The biggest problem is that it drags my 17" Powerbook with 1gig RAM down to a crawl, the whole computer just becomes so sluggish and unresponsive once i connect my SPV, and even after disconnecting and quiting PocketMac 3. Have submitted a ticket to support, sent numerous emails, but no response whatsoever. Anybody had any positive results, in particular wih SPV E200? Hmmm, maybe it'll work better with the Mpx220 ??
Guest spockie Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Yeah i could make it work with the e200, just make sure it's the new rom. FOr those using Office 2004, download the pocketmac pro patch 1st!!!! IMPORTANT! To make it work with entourage 1)Turn on BT for mac n e200 2)on the e200, go to activesync and select connect via bt 3)your PocketMac will detect the phone 4)SYNC! VOILA!
Guest gadget007 Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 anyone managed to get this to work with the C500? still no luck on my side, had my Powerbook stolen recently, so reinstalled PocketMac but it still slows my Mac down massively. Had to delete/uninstall again. Am getting to the point that I'm looking at other phones that sync with Mac and PC for contacts, email and calendar over Bluetooth. Any suggestions? I love the C500 size, but it crashes a little too much for my liking (but less than my E200  )
Guest sunilc Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I've been using pocketmac with my powerbook g4 panther for about a month now. it works really well most of the time, although one time i couldnt establish a connection anymore so i deleted the bluetooth pairing and added it again, it has worked flawlessly ever since. sunil
Guest gadget007 Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 glad to hear yours is working. Are you using the Smartphone edition? What phone are you using with it? Have you managed to sync both by Bluetooth and USB? did you notice an effect on your powerbook, ie slow down, etc?
Guest anselm Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Just to add to the debate, I purchased PocketMac as soon as it was available and - in general - it worked fairly well with my original SPV. However, when I upgraded to an E200 I could never get it to hook up to my Mac via the USB cradle. I've now found that it will conect via Bluetooth which is fine for copying CAB files, pics, wavs and mp3's but still can't get it to install exe files or sync properly. I managed to get some early responses to my requests for tech support but these soon dried up. Unfortunatly, since installing it (numerous time) I can't get Virtual PC to connect with my phone and that really sucks. Shame really, basically a promising product. Depressing to hear that it doesn't work with the C500
Guest sunilc Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 glad to hear yours is working. Are you using the Smartphone edition? What phone are you using with it? Have you managed to sync both by Bluetooth and USB? did you notice an effect on your powerbook, ie slow down, etc? Sorry for the late reply... I'm using PocketMac 3 Smartphone edition with a C500 (non-ugraded Orange software). Bluetooth sync works reliably for me, USB sync I have only tried a few times and that worked fine mostly, although a couple of times it didnt recognise that the phone was connected. I haven't noticed any slow down on my powerbook at all. Definitely an essential purchase for any mac spv owner. Sunil
Guest casusbelli2 Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Tho I have zero success sync'ing SPV c500 to OS 10.2.8 Jaguar with PocketMac - the latest build supports 10.3 only. Has anyone managed to get this configuration working? Any ideas or work arounds much appreciated!
Guest lewdvig Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 (edited) It works for me. Pluses outweight the cons. They let you install on two machines I believe (nice). Some issues they should correct: 1. Manual is for the PocketPC - they refer to menus that do not exist in the SmartPhone OS. 2. iPhoto and iTunes sync does not work well. Freezes a lot. You should be able to point to the folder where you want these things synced. 3. iCal sync requires a 'PocketMac' category - it will not sync your existing Home and Work appointments. Big bummer. 4. Sometimes PM does not appear in iSync after install. There is a utility that can fix this, but the link on the PM site is dead. 5. No photo ID sync with address book. 6. File explorer does not seem to allow you to delete or move files - only copy. 7. File explorer mount the phone as three seperate volumes. 8. File explorer often leaves volume shortcuts on the dekstop after device has been disconnected. My iCal would freeze when I first ran the app. I deselected iCal and Task sync and added them one by one. This fixed the problem. Worth the $28 they are aksing for it. Edited May 11, 2005 by lewdvig
Guest mrbibidy Posted June 2, 2005 Report Posted June 2, 2005 (edited) I have v3.51 and an smt5600, I cant account for the usb not connecting, (if anyone has any solutions for this PLEASE let me know) but the blue tooth seems to pair and then the pairing seems to drop randomly without notice (neither the computer or the phone say they are disconnected but pocket mac does) any one else having issues with the smt5600, BT, and Pokcet Mac??? Guest navzdy Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 If anyone is still reading this, I was wondering if anyone knows how to/has gotten their windows smartphones to work as modems using Cingualr service and a mac. I would prefer to use it over bluetooth but if someone knows how to do it over USB that would be helpful too. thanks
