Does anybody know what's coming next? with the E200 being fairly new when is the next model (if any) due for release?

The reason i'm asking is that i've got an original SPV and my contract is up in April, I like the look, and the reviews that the E200 has been getting.

After a quick chat with Orange it'll cost me £75 upgrade charge and £99 to upgrade the phone, so £174.

Should i hold on till April or later in case there's a better model to come

Should i wait till April and go for the E200

Should i try and get a minimum of £135 on Ebay for mine (handset is a brand new replacement)

cheers people

Best wait i think.

My contract is up in April/May so there should be some good stuff out by then i reckon.

The next Moto phone looks like it will be the "must have" phone after all the good reviews of the MPX200.

Might see what i can get for it, not too keen on Motorola phones, the predictive text on any i've had previously does my head in

Of all the rumours that have been circling the "MPx220" if its even going to be called that do shock me and of course, thats what rumours do :) Supposedly, no bluetooth. This is a shocker and I cant see any new smartphone coming out that wants to suceed not having it. An external antenna - WHY  Well, it is quadband so no doubt they had to have one.

Im afraid this just isnt the phone I was expecting....until we see proper specs. and pictures of course.

Yes.... but it will be Smartphone 2003 - therefore the same as the SPV/E100/E200 etc.

Indeed - i agree.. but it sounds like this will be a winner. Bluetooth is'nt everything.

Only the E200 is on Smartphone 2003. The original SPV, E100, MPX200, etc. only run Smartphone 2002.

Yeah - sorry - did'nt make myself clear.

What i mean was that the Moto phone will run Smartphone 200x software - so the predictive text will be the same as on any other SPV model and will not be the same as other Motorola phones.

I have a normal Moto phone from work. Which i hate - and is permenantly diverted to my SPV!

the mpx works just like a spv/e100 but doesn't do the random things that the orange/htc phones do

if you like the smartphone operating system but hate the bugs orange/htc can't fix get the moto, its got better build quality, less bugs, better battery life, remebers t9 words doesn't pop when making a call, doesn't suck dust into the screen is faster than the spv/e100/200.

at the moment i would recomend getting the moto, but fingers crossed HTC/orange will work out how to make a phone that works for whatever they are bringing out next

later

"did i tell you i like the moto quite a lot"

Yes - if simplicity is what you desire - go for the Moto. Reminds me of a bare bones PC actually :)

On the otherhand you could get an E-200: WM2003, Camera, Blueooth, yaddy yaddy ya. Problems yes - minor problems at that. Update shortly :!:

erm, if you are talking about the red moto phone, thats the mpx100, and i was expecting no bluetooth, its an entry level phone (and presumably more of a mass market phone than current smartphones), its designed to be as affordable as possible while still having integrated camera, and i think its the correct choice. the mpx220 will still, i believe have bluetooth.

but like you said, lets wait until we get more info :D

Was talkng about the MPx220 Mid. According to this lot, <> it has no bluetooth. Not the most important feature, but one which alot of people would like to see. Time for a poll me thinks....

oh that, hehe, they are just guessing :)

mpx.1 is indeed the mpx200 hence the sp2k2 os, no bluetooth etc (in fact it even shows a picture of the mpx200)

mpx.2 i've heard is the mpx100 not the mpx220

of course, all i've heard is whispers/rumours, so we both could be wrong hehe

No doubt lol - just remembering back to the "C-200" we all heard about, and how that was definitly going to be the final product name

"MPx220" if thats its read name hehe - out by April, any takers :?:

THERE are two 400 mhz processor phones in test. i dont know if we will see them this year. i tested a circuit unit for one just before christmas. i cant give the manufacturer name yet. but it was nice usual operating system obviously. and was very very fast. especially for running games. i got a agreement to recieve a test unit by june. so hopefully ill be able to post some screenshots by then. if knowbody else has.

motorola have confirmed to me the mpx220, with in built camera and possible bluetooth. and certainly fast processor still 200 mhz though.

another samsung model is on the way. with different keyboard layout. dunno when its due though.

and mitac have some great models planned. with massive processor improments.

Ooohhh goody! I SHOULD have upgraded in December (22nd) but for some reason I decided to wait until the MPx220 finally reared its wonderful head. To be honest, Bluetooth is no biggy, but integrated camera, Smartphone 2003 AND a faster processor sound wonderful. Just hope I get to like clamshells quick.

Anyone got any idea what the video capture might be like on this handset. I assume as the camera is built in, the frame rate should be better than the SPV.

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks for the advice people, I took advantage of Ebays free listing day and stuck my original SPV £145 buy it now with free delivery and it sold in less than a day and a half, so i've ordered the E200... i can always upgrade again if something better comes out as it hasn't cost much to upgrade this time round

by looking at various web sites 2004 is the year i think the smartphone will boom also away from orange ,also from microsoft you can see more production for other networks, plus the info from other postings over a mixed version spv ( spv + e200 mix ) from midnight it should be interesting this coming year if your contract is coming soon to an end and you can wait till the last moment then wait till then as the mobile market moves so fast . the main point in a new phone is the features and most important the look of the phone as there is no point say in buying a motorola if you prefer the look of the spv and also the other way too. choose the phone you like and thats the best move as you sign a years contract (or more)
