Guest benjytrainer Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Hi All, First of all let me say a big HELLO to you all and it's great to be among the Smartphone owning populous ! I have had the phone 3 days, and despite a limited amount of time with have spotted some odd things : 1) You can only get to picture taking screen from the MMS menu !? What in the blue hell is this all about ? Either the camera is a function or it isn't ! 2) I store image as JPEG, then go and look for it using Activesync-y thang. However, cannot find it on the phone anywhere - why ? 3) Creating a new email account - first, can you have more than one ( not sure on this ) and second, where is the option to leave messages on the server ? This is standard, even for other Email clients on phones ! 4) I saw other posts on this, but get that ringtone playback fixed ! Wavs don't loop properly, and mids don't playback at all well 5) No fifth point See ya benj :?
Guest kevlar Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 point 1, you are right, the idiots left out any direct camera functionality. You have to compose a mms. Pathetic isn't it? Point 3a, you can have only one email account. Kev
Guest benzo Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 It's obvious, Orange ommitted a camera feature cos they want to pressure on spv users to mms-send the photo. That's 40p in their greasy pockets. I feel ashamed to tell my friends how I have to go about taking a photo. What is more shameful is the lag I experience sometimes. My friends are asking me "you taken the photo yet?".. and I'm like "just focusing" when in reality I am clicking away like a madman "capture" with nothing happening (well not within 20 seconds of my first capture attempt). I jut hope that the IA Capture software will resolve the piece of $hit mms photo capturing module.
Guest zenabi Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 2) Pictures are stored in Storage CardMy DocumentsMy Pictures. If you don't have a card inserted then they will be stored in IPSMMy DocumentsMy Pictures. If your SD card is write-protected, then trying to save a picture will cause the SPV to run very slowly, plus the picture does not get saved. 3b) Emails will be left on the server by default. Note that if you delete an email on the SPV (and don't empty the trash), and you Send/Receive Email again, the emails will be deleted from the server. Hope I helped.
Guest DJHope Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Sort of crappy trick to make it quicker.....go create an mms go to the bit were it says new from camera go back to the home screen by pressing home, now if u press back or go to the inbox again you are right their ready to take a photo. Do that b4 you go out, much easier :D
Guest muude Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Nice one Hope!! So simple that I didn't even think about that....
Guest benjytrainer Posted December 18, 2002 Report Posted December 18, 2002 Woah, thanks guys ..! Hmm, well I quite like the phone, but there are just some things that are absolutely infuriating ! - not being able to seamlessly loop wav files as ringtones - not having direct camera taking functionality - not having more than one email account The last two of these are do-able on even non-symbian phones !!! I also read about the digital signing needed for being able to get apps on to the smartphone - yeah, nice one, watch how what cripples the content. Finally, one other thing - I ALWAYS have a little monochrome activesync logo at the top left of the screen, it's got a "!" over the front of it - to me this means an error in sync-ing, yet whenever I connect in the cradle I can sync no problem. Anyone else got this problem and if so what's the fix ?! later chaps and chapesses benjy t
