i had that error too, but then used this method and it worked.

ok i have a problem, about halfway through the installation, it suddenly stops and tells me that C:\users\name\appdata\microsoft\zune is a shared file and deleting it will stop the sharing.  Then whenever i hit either continue or cancel, zune software suddenly stops and tells me that it closed prematurely because of an error.  any help guys?

Hey guys.. new here.. I just bought my Zune and used the patch which was really easy to get through.. but when I open the software and attempt to get into the marketplace it says can't connect to zune. try again later.  error code: 2.  contacted support and was notified it meant that i had exceeded my downloads for the day.  but it was the first time i ever attempted to log in!  then she notified me it was a result of windows vista.  i'm running vista rc1 build 5600.  one of the reasons i bought the zune was for its ease in downloading from the marketplace.  any ideas?  thx

Hi im having trouble getting my Zune to be synced with windows vista. I noticed someone else posted a similar problem is there any way to fix this problem?

I did successfully install the program. I even got the Zune to work as a storage device. However every time i try to sync it with the Zune software nothing happens. Any Solutions are greatly appreciated.

Hey guys i went through all the steps to get zune on vista but when i tried to run it i get an error of "wmvcore.dll has a file version of 11.05600.6276 where 11.0.5721.5145 was expected.  Any body got any ideas how to fix this?

You can just download the Zune software from the Zune site now... the official release is now Vista compatible!

hi, i get the same problem as bneg82 (i get an error of "wmvcore.dll has a file version of 11.05600.6276 where 11.0.5721.5145 was expected).
i have reinstalled zune several times, with both the official installer, and the custom installer from the patch on this website. i always get the same message. Can someone attach a copy of wmvcore.dll as the latest version , or is there something i can do to avoid the message.

Oh sod it. I just nuked my rc1 installation to try a fresh install of xp as my zune won't even work on my xp machine. Then i read this thread whilst the install was going. Now i'll have to re-install vista again, them again next week when i can actually buy it. Damn you microsoft!

Worked great! only thing i had to do not outline (was in anothers reply tho) was show the computer where the driver was.. Many Many Thanx.. I sat on the phone with "Zune" support.. Only to listen to them run back and forth on the phone each time a XP command wasent present on my Vista Machine.. Kudos!

Dear Paul... you are GREAT!
I'll tell you more. I am an italian user, so I have not the english SO as asked by the installation and I have Vista too.
Your system works GREAT but I add an... ad.

Instead to change the compatibility of the program launcher (the .exe file) you have to download the last installer you find on the Zune.net. In this way the software will find a new upgrade of Zune and will install it with the new features for Vista.

Is that only for the Final Build?  Or RC2 as well?  Because I tried it on RC2 and it says my OS is not compatible.  Ahh, anyways, I'll be getting my Final Build of Vista soon after call and redeem my free one that I got when I bought my laptop.

Hey guys - problem with Live messenger...

i should have received my free upgrade for vista but for some reason it has not arrived yet.
well, im still using this evil RC1 and followed instructions to install the zune on it and yeah... it worked just great!

but....

windows live messenger simply stopped working.
it just not stopped working as it has become an "immortal" process which i can't just kill it, it sticks to the system and does not let me even turn the computer off unless i hold the shut down button for some seconds. i've managed to uninstall it but it simply can't be installed again, gives an error message and the boring roll-back in the end.

if it's not a bit late to get some help, you guys please post something, would help a lot.


by the way, im loving my zune... it's great!

Thanks for the info. I tried it and finally got my Zune working. The question that I have is this: If you guys can get it working and post how to it to the internet, then why wont f***ing Microsoft do the same thing. I mean, the compatability issue can't be that bad if you had the time and energy to write a patch and post it for free. WTF?

That might be true, but I couldn't get it to work. The only thing that I have found that works is your patch.

ok im running vista home premium  and I cant seem to extract the .msi  file from zune-x86 file with winrar HELP?
