Sorry Columbo, I did not mean to offend you!

When I sometimes say "we" it's surely because I take into account the comments of people here+people on the French TG01 forum + people on the FpseCE forum using the TG01.
Sorry for this, I'll say "I" from now, or explain more precisly what communitty I'm talking about.

All I wanted to say is that some TG01 work really well, some don't, some work only after a few weeks fixing the bugs.

But for me i'm a bit pissed off when I see people saying the TG01 (and all of them) are bad ans shitty because they and many others have problems.
I swear some people (french forum + FpseCE forum) never had a single problem with their TG01 and never had to do a single hard reset.

As you say, I'm not "happy to accept bugs" or to see my TG01 "reseting while showing photos to friends", I just repeat it is something that doesn't happen anymore on my own TG01 since mid-July

I agree: you should maybe verify with your provider that this one is not just giving you one of the same stock.

What is sad is that so far you've mainly seen all the bad aspects and bugs of the TG01, it's not really fair since some others never experience them (Jclaude, on the french forum, never had a single reboot or SD corruption, not a single hard reset to do, that's the luckiest on this forum, especially since he has been installing lots of applications!)

Hope you'll get to the end of these difficulties soon!

And sorry again, I sometimes forget the "french writting style" may seem offensive when it's not meant to be so lol

I have been used a lot of phones. TERO 750, E90, P3600i, TyTN II, O2 LIFE and Flame, Diamond, Touch HD...... TG01 what I am using now, is not perfect, but is fastest I have been used! That's enough for a phone.

There is no such a perfect phone in the world. Phone is only as good as users.

Change it? What throw 500 euros in the garbage and buy another 500 euro phone?

Not every country in the world works with call-plans that allow you to change a phone at will.
Also most plans require you to actually use the phone for at least 12 months before you may even think about changing for another model.

Manufacturers ought to realise that if we buy +500 euro devices we would like them to work out o/t box. In fact if I have to be a betatester for toshiba then they ought to pay ME 500 euro or at least give me the device for free (and allow me to fiddle with the firmware). I sorry for all those ppl who bought a high end device for premium money and have crappy experience.

For me it means I'll be using my Omnia (1) a bit longer.

Hope things work out well in the end (and keep us posted)

Thanks i900french-addict.  I guess my english writing style was also a bit negative, so I too am sorry if I came across as offending.  As you know, I've had a bad experience with successive TG01s, and I was feeling very frustrated when I wrote, which means I might have taken things more personally than I ought to have taken them.

I have calmed down since then and so has my TG01.  The bugs are still there, but I haven't yet had any major card errors and I've been lucky enough to avoid random reboots for a little while.  I don't know if it is my imagination, but since I've been avoiding using the built in SMS app (I use Vito SMS Chat), I haven't experienced reboots.  Might be a coincidence, but it's enought to keep me relatively happy for now.

I'm sorry if I seemed to be saying that the TG01 is all negative.  It is very close to being one of the best WM phones I've had in terms of its slim design and speed.  Without the silly Toshiba interface, it is actually very fast with virtually no lag.  That's why it is even more sad when suddenly it goes really slow for no apparent reason.  It is as if the good points of the phone make the bad points stand out even more.

One thing that helps is the leaked WM 6.5 update from Orange mentioned elsewhere on this forum.  It seems to have solved most of the volume problems and it now runs fairly smoothly.  IE6 looks much nicer, but is very unstable when using Flash and somehow not as smooth as in 6.1.  I'm hoping that Orange's official update on 12th October will not be the same build.  Battery life seems a little bit worse with this update, but I will see if there is anything I can do to make it better.  After all, I've only has this for a few hours!  Apart from that, I am at least now no longer embarrased to show it to my iPhone owning friends.  (Yes I know it's not an iPhone, but I want that to be a good thing!)  With Kinoma Play, Opera 9.7, Fingerkeyboard and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 installed, it a nearly perfect device.

It would be interesting to hear from any others who tried the update.

I had a samsung Omnia before, ok, there are many differences.

I don't have many of the problems you give here, try various settings to solve them (Core player is working very fine with me, no problem to browse instantly in a 1Go HD video, same for the photos, the SD card problem doesn't occure anymore for me, my battery lasts 3 days when I use the good settings, etc)

HORRIBLE TOSHIBA INTERFACE? that's a matter of taste, I personaly use it just because the amount of possible shortcuts is huge. I think many people criticize it just because they don't know it's possible to change the stripes order and the icons....

Random reboots? SSRWOW most of the time is responsible.

PATIENCE is required to deal with the TG01 at the beginning, but things turn much better once you're used to it.

totally agree. so far the few days i've had my tg01, it's knocked spots of my crappy omnia! the only sng, i just broke the tg01. put the usb cable in and it somehow must have pushed something against the screen from inside, so now the lcd fluid is...somewhere in the screen in the wrong place. anyway, much more happy with the tg01. maybe the omnia had more built in functionality but just hated it from day 1. my sixpence worth.

80% of the battery drain comes from the backligh adjust. I agree that  a heavy use on sunny areas drains battery too fast. And regarding airports, you should thing on TG01 like a pocket laptop instead than as a phone. What we need on airports (and it's a problem on Spanish airports like Madrid and Barcelona) are plugs to connect our devices! (that's a problem also with laptops!) What about your airports? I always carry with me one or two fresh batteries in the pocket to be covered if my fly is delayed! (I can't do the same with my laptop ) , the problem is that there are not spare batteries in the market for the TG01 yet...

...barajas sucks! try helsinki lounge, got it all!! usb ports, individual sound system, just plugin your ipod or the 3.5 mm male jack plug into your dev(p.c. etc) and way hey...you're under way!! state of the art. sorry, it's only in the lounges though.

Oh yes there are ... have a look at item 140385527693 on eBay - or do a search on eBay for TG-01 and Mugen if you want higher capacity.

I love my TG and would prefer it to an iPhone. Ive had it nearly two months with no SD card corruption and the very rare random shutdown. I love it

hi. i have a t01. went thru 8!!! 2 my fault. just upgraded to the newer version from toshiba. super super nice phone. and wile may not a a capacitive is resistant to knoks while the hd2 doesn't. runs all the games (about 15 so far superbly but no accelerator supported games yet . faster the iphone. i luv it. just added a keyboard with blueinput 1.5 and i have a small decent gaming console as well as work horse. and since WOW i have no sound quality issues. did i say how much i luv it?
