Hello!

Since a few days i can see dust/dirt behind the screen :) !!!

- Are there other users who have the same problem?

- Did anyone tear apart the omnia2 the find out the problem?

- Is there a solution for the problem yet?

- Will Samsung exchange the hardware? Any experiences on that?

Thx!

It is the first I have heard about dust, it sounds like a seal may be faulty. I would contact Samsung and see if they will do a warrany replacement, but companies like HTC in the past have refused.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

This is a bit worrying since I work in a very dusty workshop. Do you use your phone in a dusty environment or is it contamination from just normal pocket fluff?

Yep, i have the dust problem too. I have one small particle stuck between the digitizer and the screen. I have to tap the phone a few times to get rid of the dust as it was having static between the digitizer.

There is a seal and you can clearly see it in the image where the screen is being held upright it is on the front part of the casing.

The seal is only a thin black foam strip which is common on all devices.

Hello!

Bad news!

Just got the information that they (Samsung) have changed the "faulty component".

I´m really interested how long this "new component" will last.

:D :( ;)

  • 1 month later...

My phone has dust at the lower left LCD corner, and the dust disperses to other part of the screen. I think the LL corner is from where the dust enters the LCD screen.

I have just taken my phone to Samsung Customer Services today. I hope they clean my phone and change the "faulty component" and the problem will not repeat. I should be able to get back my phone in 2 days. I am located in Hong Kong BTW.

I have the exact same dust problem as you have. I had it since I bought the phone. Is there anyone from Singapore who has the same problem and has brought thier device to service centre?

i wonder where the dust gets into the phone, is it from the sides or from the screen.

I was thinking sides and best thing to do would be to get a case and cover the sides but if it's getting in from the screen then we might have a peroblem

I have this problem on my i8000L from Canada. I haven't tried to get it serviced yet...I believe the it happened on a plane. There's a dust pattern as if it "exploded" from the lower corner across the screen. Very annoying. Looks like 100 dead pixels :|

Same here. My servicepoint cleaned the LCD and will contact me for a new top cover. According to the servicepoint the space between the touchscreen part and the upper black part of the top cover is too wide so durst can get inside on the lower left. Of course its under guarantee. (Sorry for my bad english)

Unfortunately for me, i bought my i8000 in the US and dont have a warranty. i wonder if it would be possible to simply fill in the crack where the dust is getting in (possibly with some Elmers white glue)?

Update: I got my phone back today from Samsung Services Centre. The LCD screen has been thoroughly cleaned and I am happy with it. However, according to services description no part has been changed so I think the problem will repeat later, unless they have done something to fix the problem but did not want to talk about it to keep the problem low-key.

hi guys my phone also had a couple of pretty big sized dust like 'items' between the amoled and the sensor i got it cleaned by my self i inserted a sharp screwdriver just above the answer button on the left corner cause thats where the dust came in..exposing the tft. just if anyone is gonna try this solution be extra carefull as you can damage the screen, the sensor or the flexible cable next to the earphone!
