Guest Apolousm
Hi Tiny. Thanks for the ROM. I've seen that you have published two ROMS, this one, and the last one. Could you tell us the difference between the secany's L5 ROM, and yours?. I think it is an important point, as in ypur last post some people reported facing some problems with the last ROM you posted. I don't know about cooking ROMS, and such things, but i would really appreciate if you explain the differecences. Thanks a lot.
Guest tacchan23
Please, for future releases, avoid to make any reference on the title or in the post about the ROM name (as requested by Secany to continue to provide us newer ROMs)

Could you tell us the difference between the secany's L5 ROM, and yours?. I think it is an important point, as in ypur last post some people reported facing some problems with the last ROM you posted. Secany ROMs are complete Samsung ROMs that may or may not have been officially released. This pdaviet ROM has many of the applications that are in a standard Samsung ROM removed as per the first post. I cant see any much in the way of differences between this .86 version and the .85 version in the posting. Someone else reported that the issues I noticed in the .85 version have been fixed but I haven't tested myself yet.
Guest dgmorland
Ok, I have installed this new version and done a quick check. The problem with not being able to send/receive txt in the previous .85 release ROM is fixed :) The keyboard still doesnt vibrate when this has been enabled (although it does make sounds if you have enabled this option). Also the problem of not being able to save any contacts to the favourites section of the Samsung phonebook still exists (note that the original Samsung Phonebook as supplied in Secany IL5 ROM is also faulty - this allows you to save contacts but after restarting only your most recently saved favourite is there). I can live with these two issues (I would be interested to know if others experience these issues or not). Overall this is a great ROM for people that like to use the Samsung apps for main functions of phone, sms, phonebook, calendar etc. I am using Samsung Today plugin instead of the included version of Titanium. As with the previous version, there is a very noticeable difference in responsiveness between this and the latest full Samsung ROM I have been using (I have switched around a few ROMs now and I am sure its not placebo effect!) EDIT: Samsung Calendar is not in this ROM but you can download from CABs repository thread. Thank you to Sonblack for producing this ROM and Tiny1990 for posting it here B) PS. If there is a workaround/registry hack to enable the keyboard vibrate I will be even happier ;) Edited December 31, 2009 by dgmorland

This guyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ujkiuyQxJM, way before official release. This makes me believe that they managed on their own. After all it's PDAviet we are talking about. Interesting, if this makes them obliged to Secany's rules?

Guest Khisha
Lancez. It has nothing to do with plant location. I am sorry to disapoint you, but IMHO most of PDAViet cookers live in Silicon Valley... If you know what I mean. Moreover the ROMs are coming from RND facility and production plant. The production itself can be outsourced like Apple does with Iphones.

If there is a workaround/registry hack to enable the keyboard vibrate I will be even happier ;) Try go to (Samsung) Setting > Touch Alert > Alert > Choose ( Touch event = Tap event, Alert = Sound + Vibration). I had also encountered your problem where the Samsung keyboard doesn't vibrate, until I realized that there are two (2) Setting option : 1. The default Windows "Setting" 2. The Samsung "Setting" (the one with the blue ring :) ) See image attached.

As you know there is many way to activate the SMS access. This one is particular. Other then that, this is good. Thank you. you can just change the registry settings that can be found in the tweaks thread to ethier disable or enable the default sms. I chose to disable the samsung sms and stick with the basic windows one which i find is nice and fast and easy to read. plus the link in titanium works then. The Samsung "Setting" (the one with the blue ring :) ) Yes , selecting "touch event" = "tap event" enables the vibrate for all touch events and this works but I don't want it to vibrate on all events. The problem is when you select "touch event" = "Dialer and Virtual input panel". It doesn't vibrate when you use the keyboard with this option selected. It only vibrates on the dialer pad. It is supposed to vibrate on both. Edited January 8, 2010 by dgmorland
Guest dgmorland
There may be another bug with unthreaded SMS in this ROM. I have posted another topic asking if others can confirm is specific to this ROM or not. It is here. Threaded SMS is enabled by default in this ROM and works correctly.
