yes im using cht8000 but don't know how to get the hardware version
didn't test the wifi in the unmodified Tre rom
but when use the flb mod &j-mod and the cht8000 1.5rom
wifi always ok
Yes, me too. I have not had a problem with any rom and wifi not working (including TWeak 0.3). Since it isn't working anyway, try to do a complete wipe and install it again.

Oh, one more possibility. I have noticed that using the Power Control widget to toggle Wifi does not always work in starting Wifi. I personally use Curvefish Wifi toggle widget, and so I had forgotten that I had had that problem previously. Are you using the Power Control widget?

Maybe, just for fun, I'll reflash the Tre updata and reinstall TWeak 0.3 to verify that works on my phone.

But, I have to go to bed now so I can get up for work in the morning.  :)

Edit: I lied.  :P I didn't go right to bed. Instead, I reflashed the Tre updata, booted once, checked wifi worked, rebooted and flashed Clockwork recovery, rebooted into recovery, did a factory reset/data wipe, installed TWeak 0.3, rebooted, checked wifi, and it worked just fine. So, I don't know what to suggest to you, other than make sure you do a factory reset/data wipe before installing TWeak.

I hope you can get it to work. Please let me know if you did.

That's too bad. I don't know what else to think. Maybe your CHT8000 isn't the same as mine?
I noticed your location says you are in the PRC. Did you buy the phone there or in Taiwan?

Yes, I have fibble's test .29 kernel working as well with TWeak (FLB1.5). But I really want to get it working with a Tre-based rom, not the UK based rom. And from the number of downloads, it looks like there is growing interest in the Tre version of TWeak (based on the downloads).

Oh well, looks like I'll have to try to learn something new.

Edit: Well, it was fun while it lasted. But I do find that FLB (using the UK rom) is simply not as stable as the Tre-based rom (like TWeak 0.3) on my phone. Maybe there was some instability because I was using the newly created kernel with swap, but I get a bunch of "process not responding" and acore error messages and even some fc's when I'm using the UK based roms. Tre just seems to work better for me. So I restored my latest backup, and I'm back to using TWeak 0.3 until there is a complete new rom released for me to experiment with. As always, YMMV.

Edit: deleted; it was an experiment that didn't go very well.
If you want a TWeak rom with swap enabled, look at the post below.

For anyone who wants to play around with the new 2.6.29 kernel with swap enabled, here's TWeak (FLB1.6a).
Download: TWeak (FLB1.6a)
Download: Vanilla framework for TWeak (FLB1.6a) (Install this if you prefer the vanilla look.)
See the first post if you want details on this rom. Basically this is a modified FLB 1.6a rom. That rom has swap enabled, so this does too. Other than the new swap-enabled kernel, TWeak (FLB1.6a) has the same Chinese modifications as TWeak (FLB1.5) did.

The best I have been able to glean from others and to experience myself is that using Swapper2 (download from the market) is currently the best way to create the swap space and to turn it on. YMMV, but it is a lot easier than partitioning your SD card yourself.

Edit: After further experimentation, I suggest following the Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide for how to get swap working well using this rom.

The TWeak roms will not fit in the UK2.1 rom partitions; you need to have updated to 2.1 using the Tre or Hungarian roms. Again, see the first post for details.

Disclaimer: this is experimental; use at your own risk.
It's been working fine for a lot of people; I think it is past the "experimental" stage.

Hey, thanks for that information. I'll have a look at it tomorrow and try to work it in.
How "critical" is this code? What happens without it?

Want a quicker answer?
  • Use the search function in the right hand column to search this forum or a particular thread.
  • Click on this link to go to "The Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide" and find your answer there.
  • Rom installation problems? Try this link.
(If you aren't willing to do any of that, don't be surprised if you receive a "harsh" answer from someone.)

nothing will happen.
If an apn profile is missing, the user have to input it manually.
that's all

Hmm, I'm feeling lazy (while riding out this typhoon; fun, isn't it?), and I don't want to repackage this rom yet again.
Maybe I'll temporarily try to create a simple update for that one file that people can flash who want it. I'll work on it now and do some testing. I'll post it if it works for me (i.e. if it doesn't crash my system; I can't really test it, because I don't need to use it).
Thanks for the info.

Edit: Ok, I did it the lazy man's way. Any chance you can test this update? It didn't seem to kill my machine, but other than it flashing into rom, I don't know if it did anything at all!

Well, if it is any consolation, I can't turn it off either. Nope, I don't see any settings for that.
I guess it never bothered me because I use it very little. If I used it all the time, that would be annoying.

I am using  TWeak (Tre2.1ADW) and my SD has both EXT and SWAP partition created. When I do a2sd check, it said  [*] Swap starts... does it mean that the Tre2.1ADW also has a kernel with swap enabled and the swap is actually WORKING?

Certainly not that I know of!

I'm glad to see that there are others using this rom. I keep experimenting with all the latest roms that get released here at MoDaCo, but each time, I eventually end up back on this rom. It's simply the most stable 2.1 rom I've found for my phone. And "stable" is of high priority to me.

I am planning on an update with the list of APN's that TaiwanCHT8k posted and I'm maybe considering changing the "fingerprint" so that a few more apps show up in the Market. But I don't know if I want to do that or to have it show up as the CHT8000 or leave it alone (which I think is just a generic U8220). Any other updates anyone who uses the rom would like me to consider?

Maybe, for the fun of it, I'll repartition and put swap space back on my sd and have a look. I suspect that a2sd is just telling you that it is switching it on, but without the kernel support, nothing is happening. Please let us know if you discover something different.

Don't I wish! I've been trying to add the swap enabled kernel to this rom's boot image for days. I can not get it to work.

In my experimentation, I have been able to get swap to work by simply flashing the boot.img the fibblesan produced. So, yes, you should be able to get that to work too. Try it.

But, the next problem is that the a2sd version in this TWeak 0.3 rom is too old and doesn't allow me to adjust the necessary swap settings to make it work well. But all attempts I have made to add DT Apps2SD 2.7.5 final to this rom have resulted in either it hanging at boot or a loss of all wireless (cell, wifi, bluetooth, all gone). So given the choice between a phone that works without swap and a phone that has swap but won't connect to anything, I'll take the one without swap.

I thought I could fix it temporarily by using an older version of a2sd but I haven't found one.

So unless I can figure out why I can't seem to produce a boot.img that doesn't kill all wireless connectivity, my suggestion is that you flash the 2.6.29 boot.img with swap enabled, and then use Swapper2 to build your swap file and make all the adjustments there.

Unfortunately the really smart guys who know what they are doing are busy trying to get Froyo working for us all. I don't think anyone is interested in redoing the Tre rom to add the latest version of Apps2SD and enable swap. Maybe if you asked really nicely.......

Good luck.
