Guest twrock Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 about halfway done i doubt if you're willing to use it....... :) :P Well, I think I'd first do something about that wallpaper..... Have you got the B825 rooted and with apps2sd? That is something I was seriously considering working on, but the process looks quite complicated for a noob like me. I've been working on "tweaking" the Tre rom (since it is already available rooted and with apps2sd). I've been running my latest mod for about 36 hours now, and haven't experienced any problems at all. With every other rom I've tried, eventually it happens that my cell radio just quits working, for no apparent reason, even though it shows it is connected. I can't make or receive calls, but I don't know it is even happening until I try to make a call, or someone calls me on a landline and tells me my phone is off. But once it starts happening, it keeps happening. Weird. So I'm still playing around with this Tre based rom. If it turns out to be stable for me, I'll throw it out there for others to try. But, someone who really uses their phone in Chinese needs to put together a good mod of the CHT B825. I flashed it immediately when it was released, but it was TERRIBLE. Slow, fc's, just aweful. So I gave up on it right away and started to try to learn how to tweak other roms to at least get Chinese support. But I am in the small minority when it comes to people who use this phone. Most want it all in Chinese. I don't. Keep up the good work. :(
Guest Simon O Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 :P Well, I think I'd first do something about that wallpaper..... :) at first I was wondering why the girl was inside a rice cooker.. then I realised it's actually the Android!

Guest TaiwanCHT8k Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Flibbie's TRE boot.img :) Whenever I tried to flash roms onto CHT firmware, WiFi refused to cooperate. Neither TRE nor UK roms worked. While many others (cht8000+ users perhaps?), did not encounter such an issue on CHT firmware. This is so weird, considering that UK and CHT B825 firmwares should have been very similar... for at least their build versions are closer together lol and no, I will not experiment on CHT roms anymore..."time machine-cupcake-eclair" loop pissed me off enough already :P Besides, shouldn't doing it the other way, by porting apps and several libs to UK/TRE rom, much simpler? Guest TaiwanCHT8k Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) NEVER EVER trust Google Translate! lol Google: Flibbie the Tors boot.img, mid download Whenever I tried to flash the CHT ROM firmware, wireless refused to cooperate. Whether the work of the United Kingdom or Tors CD. Although many people (cht8000 + user, right?), Did not encounter such problems on Chunghwa Telecom's firmware. This is so incredible, considering the United Kingdom and China Telecom B825 firmware should already be very similar to ... At least they establish closer cooperation version of laughs No, I dare not try the submarine disc with ... "time machine cake, lightning" cycle has annoyed me enough wacko.gif In addition, other means should not be done, by the number of LIBS technology and migrate to the UK / Tors CD, much simpler? My comprehension: Flibbie's Tellus boot.img. biggrin.gif Every time, I try to use red tunnel's Flash RAM. ROM's firmware, wireless, refuse to work together. No matter it's Britain or Tellus, Disc works. Although not very few people (cht8000 +user?), Have not meet this problem above CHT's firmware. This is so amazing, thinking of Britan and CHT B825 firmware should be very similar already ... At least they build up closer cooperate version's laugh. Not really, so the seabed disc I'm afraid of trying ... time machine cake, lightening, circulation are already capable of bothering me to death. wacko.gif besides, other methods shouldn't be done, are transferred and applied to Britain by several LIBS technology. /Tellus Disc, much easier? Guest twrock Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Yes, Google translate is very funny at times. But I think it only goes to show just how very different Chinese and English really are. Nothing is the same! :) If I recall correctly, the CHT B825 had different partitions. I think there was even less user space on that rom, probably because of all the extra apps they put into /system, including Chinese IME. But, unless it is already rooted with apps2sd, I'm not interested in working on it. I don't have the motivation to learn how to do all of that. (And I'm probably not smart enough either.) I just finished uploading my latest TWeak rom. It is based a rooted Tre rom that I got from somewhere (but I can not remember where!). So far, it has been very stable for me. But right after the first boot, I typically change the language to English and leave it that way. I used it for a little time tonight in Chinese and was surprised to find out how many of the standard apps have full Chinese support built in. That is very nice. So if you want to waste some time, have a look at it: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nb0o8fz10uah...dw02-signed.zip When I'm more awake tomorrow, I'll make and "official" announcement and upload some screenshots. In the mean time, just imagine a vanilla ROM with ADW.Launcher with a lot of Chinese on it. :P Edited September 10, 2010 by twrock
Guest twrock Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Ok, so here's the "official announcement". :P TWeak 0.2 (Tre2.1ADW) is released and the description and download link are added to the first post. Also, there is a set of screenshots added to the second post. Just to clarify, this ROM runs fine in languages other than Chinese. But it does default to Chinese on the initial boot (until you unlock the SIM card or change it). Also, the Chinese handwriting input method has been added to the rom, which takes up a bunch of space, particularly if you have no intention of using it. Enjoy. Edited September 10, 2010 by twrock
Guest twrock Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) (That was quick.) Announcing "TWeak 0.3 (Tre2.1ADW)". This is a "minor fix" revision, with no functionality added. Here are the changes: -Fixed the Power Control widget so it finally looks like I wanted it to. -Added a custom boot animation. See the first post for the download link. If you don't want to lose all your apps and data, you should be able to flash this update on top of your previously installed "TWeak 0.2 (Tre2.1ADW)" without wiping. (I did.) Basically, only Settings.apk was replaced, build.prop was edited, and bootanimation.zip was added. Enjoy! Edited September 11, 2010 by twrock

Yes, unfortunately that is what that failure message means. The TWeak 0.3 rom will not fit in the UK2.1 rom partitions. The inclusion of the HanvonCalla Chinese IME makes the /system partition information too large for that rom's partition. Sorry, but if you want to use any of these TWeak roms, you will have to start with the Tre (or Hungarian) rom update first. Edited September 12, 2010 by twrock

I have not had a problem with any rom and wifi not working (including TWeak 0.3). Since it isn't working anyway, try to do a complete wipe and install it again. Oh, one more possibility. I have noticed that using the Power Control widget to toggle Wifi does not always work in starting Wifi. I personally use Curvefish Wifi toggle widget, and so I had forgotten that I had had that problem previously. Are you using the Power Control widget? Maybe, just for fun, I'll reflash the Tre updata and reinstall TWeak 0.3 to verify that works on my phone. But, I have to go to bed now so I can get up for work in the morning. :) Edit: I lied. :P I didn't go right to bed. Instead, I reflashed the Tre updata, booted once, checked wifi worked, rebooted and flashed Clockwork recovery, rebooted into recovery, did a factory reset/data wipe, installed TWeak 0.3, rebooted, checked wifi, and it worked just fine. So, I don't know what to suggest to you, other than make sure you do a factory reset/data wipe before installing TWeak. I hope you can get it to work. Please let me know if you did. Guest twrock Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) http://www.mediafire.com/?ezh5v1nfts55372 flb 1.5 with CHT apps & theme, plus flibbie's test .29 boot img this time to activate the swap feature wifi works on CHT firmware :) Yes, I have fibble's test .29 kernel working as well with TWeak (FLB1.5). But I really want to get it working with a Tre-based rom, not the UK based rom. And from the number of downloads, it looks like there is growing interest in the Tre version of TWeak (based on the downloads). Oh well, looks like I'll have to try to learn something new. Edit: Well, it was fun while it lasted. But I do find that FLB (using the UK rom) is simply not as stable as the Tre-based rom (like TWeak 0.3) on my phone. Maybe there was some instability because I was using the newly created kernel with swap, but I get a bunch of "process not responding" and acore error messages and even some fc's when I'm using the UK based roms. Tre just seems to work better for me. So I restored my latest backup, and I'm back to using TWeak 0.3 until there is a complete new rom released for me to experiment with. As always, YMMV. Edited September 14, 2010 by twrock
Guest twrock Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Edit: deleted; it was an experiment that didn't go very well. If you want a TWeak rom with swap enabled, look at the post below. Edited September 16, 2010 by twrock
Guest twrock Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) For anyone who wants to play around with the new 2.6.29 kernel with swap enabled, here's TWeak (FLB1.6a). Download: TWeak (FLB1.6a) Download: Vanilla framework for TWeak (FLB1.6a) (Install this if you prefer the vanilla look.) See the first post if you want details on this rom. Basically this is a modified FLB 1.6a rom. That rom has swap enabled, so this does too. Other than the new swap-enabled kernel, TWeak (FLB1.6a) has the same Chinese modifications as TWeak (FLB1.5) did. The best I have been able to glean from others and to experience myself is that using Swapper2 (download from the market) is currently the best way to create the swap space and to turn it on. YMMV, but it is a lot easier than partitioning your SD card yourself. Edit: After further experimentation, I suggest following the Ultimate Pulse Owners Guide for how to get swap working well using this rom. The TWeak roms will not fit in the UK2.1 rom partitions; you need to have updated to 2.1 using the Tre or Hungarian roms. Again, see the first post for details. Disclaimer: this is experimental; use at your own risk. It's been working fine for a lot of people; I think it is past the "experimental" stage. Edited September 20, 2010 by twrock
