To the best of my knowledge, the HD2 has a capacitive screen which supports multitouch, while the Omnia 2 is resistive. That's why the guy in the demo can pinch to zoom. So, even if you could get WIndows Phone 7 to run on the Omnia 2, a lot of the cooler features wouldn't work properly. Keep in mind that the Windows Phone 7 is being touted as a great gaming device with the inclusion of XBox Live. The majority of the games available to WP7 require multitouch.

It would be pretty cool to see in run on the Omnia 2, though...

oh darn it now i have to clarify that i was kidding, damn you kids.

rome wasnt built in a day and we are losing chefs by the second, so unless some of the new adopters want to start cooking, no one is in a place to start making requests. take that enthusiasm and go to the above mentioned chefs and thank them for their work thus far, donate if you can

well actualy contray to what most people belive resistive touch screens do support multi-touch the only diffrence is it requires some calculations. like when you touch two points on a resistive screen it will register as being touched at a point half way between the two points being touched... this is the tricky part because now you have to write software to beable to calculate were the 2 points are and it can be done its just quite complicated and thus why no one really wants to try this... but it has been done and its been done with very accurate percioin and being able to support as many points as you can possibly get to touch the screen at one time... still dont think wp7 will work with the o2 just cause of the fact multi-touch isnt native to resistive screens and requires a lot of code to us multi-touch...

There will never be a port for the omnia 2, the time investment to make it work just isn't worth it. The HD2 is looked at as the easiest port as all of the hardware is essentially the same. As there is no windows phone running on the same chipset, drivers would mostly need to be written from scratch. Not gonna happen.
