QuickSense

Call People - Text People - Email People - GPS - Be Fast

The idea is to sacrifice features to save ram and promote speed.

Configuration & Features
-Quick! Smooth!
-CHT Sense on the home screen.
-Other HTC tabs and apps are disabled or removed
-WinMo dialer, call log, email, and texting
-Samsung Contacts, alarm, and calendar (all accessible from home screen)

-Microsoft Voice (bound as long press to green hard key)
-Enhanced Start menu.
-S2U2 lock screen and caller ID.

General Notes:
-You can not add a contact as a quicklink.
-You can not add a bookmark as a quick link.
-UI in the 6.5 ver is smoother
-On first boot, the phone will go through some automatic configuration and restart. After that, the phone is ready.

Notes:

HDWalls:
You must use special wallpapers with this program. Just google, examples:

You must install the files to '\Wallpapers' in main storage.
Instructions:
1) Run the HDWalls App
2) Select Wallpaper
3) Slide home screen 'up' and restart Sense.

Quick GPS:
-An HTC app that can download a file containing the current location of Satellites. This enables almost instantaneous lock-on of GPS.
-I ported one over from an older version of Sense, for various technical reasons. I don't know if others got the new stuff to work, but I could not. Also, the GUI is odd shaped, but the program works, it will download the data update.
-It is a known fact that in same cases even though QuickGPS works, it still has no effect.
-It currently appears that for me on fresh flash, first running the tool, enabling GPS Location, and enabling GPS in Google Maps setting, Google Maps locked 5 sats instantly. I never even saw it search for sats.
-The i8000 GPS driver and tweak should speed up GPS lock for those cases the QuickGPS is not effective.
-If it doesn't work in Google Maps, try setting it's GPS setting to COM 4 BAUD 57600
-Gripe: I spent over 40 hours over a week to get this one thing to work. I hope its worth it.

This rom is primarily a work of things already started by xlightwaverx, AMDZero, SteelReign and many more.

Regarding builds before XIP Update:
The 6.5 ver has only the kernel of WinMo release 29017. The rest of the OS is from an older 21916 release to preserve the top Start Menu feel.
The 6.5.5 has the newer kernel as well as the other newer OS files. This gives the bottom Start Menu feel, and is a completely updated OS.
Winmo Release 29022 is the very latest Windows Mobile release from MS at this time.

Of course its can do more, but I sacrificed some features in prioritizing the above. The idea was to sacrifice features to save ram and promote speed.

It has CHT Sense, but only on the home screen. The tabs are disabled.
The WinMo dialer is faster and takes less ram than any skinned dialer.
The other default WinMo apps (call log, email, etc) load faster than Samsung.
I kept Samsung Contacts for one tap dialing.

This rom is primarily a work of things already started by xlightwaverx and AMDZero.

ROM is working great so far! Good work, Bryan!

One question though, how can I change the background when using Sense?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just installed CHTEditor and did it from there, I first had to enable the soft keys
EDIT 2: Spoke too soon, it wouldn't let me change the wallpaper from there. Bummer. Still looking for a solution

This looks really interesting to me!!!!   Currently been using "AMDZero Stock" for many months and working pretty well....i'm into minimal!

I will definately try out your ROM when you update it to 6.5.5.   I think i would find it annoying to go back to old buttons.

The only things I think I will miss will be the Samsung Alarm App, the Samsung Calendar App, and the Dialer.

They can always be added back via cab.

Regarding the wallpaper.. The use of wallpaper was disabled because Sense applies some sort of dithering/fading effect to them and this reduced performance.

There is a reg setting to set a wall paper if you want to try it out. It should be under HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\.

This is 6.5.3, so it's pretty close to the same thing.  Screenshots look like 6.5, but he says he's using SYS 29017.

Yes, sorry for not being specific. Only the XIP, or kernel, is 29017. The rest of the OS is unchanged from 21916. I call it 6.5 since most people associate that with the top start menu style interface.

The other rom that is half finished - that one will be completely 29017. I called it 6.5.5 for the same reason, easily identified with the bottom start menu and 'ok' buttons.

There are tons of different files in that directory, do you know which one I need to edit?

Sorry if I don't have a concrete answer right now, but, what about this?

Its an app for rotating wallpapers in Sense, but perhaps you can use it to load at least 1 you like.

Hey Bryan,

Just a quick question.  From the screen shots it looks as if the current weather conditions is deleted from you Sense start page.  Is that correct?

Yes. The weather took considerable cpu and slowed down the home page.
