Guest jambaz
I'm afraid that despite reading through the various guides I am still very confused as to how to go from my new out the box Viva-city (zte crescent) to CM9, ideally being SIM unlocked. Speaking to a few friends that have said that I need to root my device before I even work my way through the guide. Is this correct? From what I have read so far, I thought that I would need to: 1) sim unlock - http://www.modaco.com/topic/353098-my-howto-on-getting-started-on-the-crescent/ 2) Install clockwork recovery and re-partition the internal memory - http://www.modaco.com/topic/349795-san-francisco-iit-mobile-vivacity-tpts/ 3) install CM9 Am I making this more complicated than it should be? Many thanks in advance.

Guest jambaz
woah steady on, the first link is for the osf2;) That link was taken from the Guides, ROM's and recoveries list - which was pinned in the cresent forum : http://www.modaco.co...-updated-13612/ Thanks for pointing it out though. Guest misodoctakleidist
Your friends are wrong. Your phone doesn't need to be rooted to flash a new recovery or unlock it. Once you install CM9 your phone will be routed. I used this guide for unlocking and installing clockwork: http://www.modaco.co...d-now-complete/ Edited June 19, 2012 by misodoctakleidist
Guest fiskbulle
I used this guide for unlocking and installing clockwork: http://www.modaco.co...d-now-complete/ Does that guide work for Blade II? Specs: http://www.theverge.com/products/blade-ii/5277#product-specs And if so, what files should it go after. OSFII or Vivacity?
Guest BLu3HaZe
Neither, Crescent is a different phone to yours, do NOT try, you'd MOST probably end up bricking your brand new Blade II. Afraid you'll have to wait until someone posts something for your handset. Nothing so far afaik.
Guest fiskbulle
Thanks for your reply, i guess i'll have to wait until more information is released then. But the software/basics can't be that different? There's probably somewhat the same procedure, just slightly different, i think. Regards, fisk.
