From out of the box to CM9

I'm afraid that despite reading through the various guides I am still very confused as to how to go from my new out the box Viva-city (zte crescent) to CM9, ideally being SIM unlocked. Speaking to a few friends that have said that I need to root my device before I even work my way through the guide. Is this correct?

From what I have read so far, I thought that I would need to:

1) sim unlock - http://www.modaco.com/topic/353098-my-howto-on-getting-started-on-the-crescent/

2) Install clockwork recovery and re-partition the internal memory - http://www.modaco.com/topic/349795-san-francisco-iit-mobile-vivacity-tpts/

3) install CM9

Am I making this more complicated than it should be?

Many thanks in advance.

Neither, Crescent is a different phone to yours, do NOT try, you'd MOST probably end up bricking your brand new Blade II.

Afraid you'll have to wait until someone posts something for your handset. Nothing so far afaik.

Thanks for your reply, i guess i'll have to wait until more information is released then.

But the software/basics can't be that different? There's probably somewhat the same procedure, just slightly different, i think.

Regards, fisk.
