Guest Piscies1995
Hello; A few days ago I purchased my very first Android handset from the carphone-warehouse here in the UK. The handset in question was of course the Huawei Ascend G510-0100. Its a factory unlocked handset with an O2 simcard in it. I have been using the phone for a few days now and I like it overall, however, I would like to put a clean, stock version of Android on it, hopefully, 4.2 or 4.3 as it is currently running 4.1.1. I have been using an iPhone ever since its launch back in 2007 but have always wanted to have an Android handset to use as a secondary. Could anyone tell me how I could go about rooting / flashing a rom onto my handset as I have not a scooby in the world about this eco-system I am throwing myself into. Many thanks! Regards, Cameron
Guest ZolaIII
I would read a bit about Android first if I whose on juor place! Hire is a comple tutorial: http://www.labandroid.com/china/2013/09/guide-huawei-ascend-g510y300-root-unlock-recovery/"]http://www.labandroid.com/china/2013/09/guide-huawei-ascend-g510y300-root-unlock-recovery/ The stock Android is a clean as a whisper! You can actually freeze or uninstall apps that you don't want. With stock try out a castles kernel, from ROMs try a Slim Kat. Before flashing anything do the BACKUP OF STOCK FIRMWARE!!! Cheers for this! I had a look through but I'm unable to unlock the boot loader as my phone won't detect within the command prompt. Anyone else managed to get a stock version on Android running on a G510 and if so, could you help? Thanks! Cameron!

Guest Lanyu
Done it! I used the tutorial from ZolaIII but the USB drivers i installed using Hisuite instead of the link as I figured I can use it to backup phone although its brand new got it 2 hours ago have no intention of using stock software. I used the tools fastboot zip in the link Zola provided. http://huaweinews.com/2013/11/unlock-ascend-y300-bootloader/ the tools in this link wouldn't work? Now I need to sort out the recovery?? Is it normal for it to come out of fastboot after unlocking because it did?
Guest AmbientGhe
Takes a few day's to complete the process depending on huawei's busyness Email Huawei to ask for your bootloader unlock code [email protected] just remove your battery and take a picture of you serial numbers, you can write them down but the lazier huawei employee's just send an email back saying your details are wrong. I forget the name of the program but one of its features is finding your unlock code as it is stored in your phones memory. Finally follow these steps to unlock your bootloader and root your device
