Guest 206bw Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 My buddy never had a screen protector on his Iphone. After a year of putting into his pocket along with other sutff, there is still zero scratch on the screen. Is the Omnia2's screen also scratch resistant?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 I personally would not risk it, even if I had an iPhone (not that I ever would) I would still protect it with a screen protector.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Our omnia screens are not scratch resistant as the iphone's as our is soft plastic. Since removing my race shiled it idi not put anymore protection for my phone other than the sleeve that came with the phone. So far, I have a scratch at the back of my phone, and a few hairline scratches on my screen. The scratches on the screen though are invisible when phone is being used under normal lighting. But is quite visible in certain angles when under sunlight. Although all of these I do not mind, as I would rather have these un noticeable scratches rather than to loose the feel of the unprotected screen. Once all the scratches are unberable, then Iw ill just have my digitizer replaced. O most likely I will have a new phone by then So it's up to you really. But just to answers your question. Yes our screen do scratch easily.
Guest kawgirlval69 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 iphones arent scratch resistant..trust me they scratch...not as easy as a polymer coated screen but they scratch...
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 May I offer some insight? I was opening a small tube of super glue at my desk the other day and I had my O2 sitting also on the desk. As soon as I punctured the foil seal from the glue open, vapor came spewing out and a few drops spattered onto my desktop - including my O2 screen! This of course dried instantly and it immediately bonded to the SCREEN PROTECTOR. I can only imagine what the result would have been WITHOUT THE SCREEN PROTECTOR! I personally believe that they are very useful... sort of like life insurance. You really don't see the use until the actual moment of need - which is always realized in hindsight.

Guest navin-shetty Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I never advice to use a gadget like Omnia without screen protector. Actually I had a screen protector which came with my cell and it looks like a crapyyy....even its not aligned and came up from one side and lotsa dust on to adhesive after few weeks of use. I tried to buy a screen protector in local market here in bahrain but couldnt find anywhere  , then I gave up ordered Invisible shield from ZAGG received last week, once i finished installation found that, this is bit ok, fits somehow OK... but before you buy it, i would like to tell you that, it will cover-up full screen a 2-3mm difference (ZAGG says, a precision cut, I DONT BELIEVE IT) and covers back panel. But it not covers the side bracket of front panel of your device. Without it you may still have chance of getting scratches on site... I also have ADVERTISING SPAM case for Omnia, a book type one but I never use it, because its toooo bulkyyy....so satisfied with Samsungs another crappiest case which came in the box... <_<
Guest plguzman Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) I'm very careful with my phones, (my Omnia i900 just have 1 small scratch after 1 year of use), so I went without screen protector on mi i8000. I'm planning to get a spare digitizer just in case. Edited March 5, 2010 by plguzman
Guest xaznxplaya Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 I've been using a Bodyguard's protector shield still which should be "unscratchable", though it's lifetime guarantee so I can remplace it anytime I want.
Guest 206bw Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Ok so i was looking through Ebay and found many kinds of screen protectors (mirror, anti glare, clear ect ect) which one offers the best transparency and least amount of fingerprints?

From Amazon in Germany, I buy a very good anti-reflective cover. It has a satin finish to the laminate that is very forgiving with smudges and fingerprints. It is also a very rigid film so it lasts quite a long time between changes. It is made right here in Germany, but I'm sure that it should be available within Europe as well. Check it out... http://www.amazon.de/FX-ANTIREFLEX-Display...513&sr=8-17
Guest Devhux Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I am quite happy with my full-body Ghost Armor protector (similar to things like InvisibleSHIELD). I generally don't like cases because they tend to be bulky, but the Ghost Armor helps give a bit of protection to the device. That said, if you are accident prone (i.e. tend to drop your phone a lot), then definitely get a case.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Just learned my lesson. Even if how careful I can be with my phone, me being careful is like others standing on top of a dirt bike running at 60mph. I just scratch my phone, as if it was liked scratched by keys on purpose, now I see a lot of rainbows everytime I use my phone. I am so sad right now. My lesson, get a screen protector. I really don't know how I got the nasty scratches. When I was still using the phone it was very nice and clean, place it on the sleeve (the one that came in the box) place them in my pocket. after 10 mins when I was going to use again the phone. Boom, scratches as deep as the pacific! <_< God D*** !!
Guest eh77iz Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Martin Fields is the best of the best.
Guest redzone321 Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 how much does a new digitizer cost?
Guest natedawg1013 Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 I'm glad I have my screen protector, I always scroll the same way, and I have this huge line of scratches on my screen protector on the right hand side.Plus sometimes dust or something gets under my fingernail and I get a massive search.Thank goodness for the screen protector being there.
Guest jebise Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 i was using the stock one that comes with the phone and it got so scratched badly, even through i kept it in a holder. Got a nicer screen protector of ebay witha a hard rubber case and can't be happier.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 how much does a new digitizer cost? The digitizers itself is cheap. I read somewhere here that is is arund $22. I would assume that is US dollars. But of course, as just everything in life. The the labor cost that is expensive. I for once am sure that I cannot replace the Digitizer on my own, that is why where in Singapore when I ask Service center how much it will cost, they say definitely it will be over $100 bucks (that would be around $70 us dollars) That is why I have learned my lesson and will use a screen protector once I have my new digitizer installed.
Guest skinnypupp Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I'd recommend a Zagg InvisibleShield for the back, and something else for the front. The InvisibleShield (and others like it) have a very 'tacky' feel, making it difficult to slide your finger/fingernail/stylus/whatever across the screen. I bought a full InvisibleShield, and removed the front part right away. I prefer a matte anti-glare screen for the front. No glare, no fingerprints, VERY slippery.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 One thing I have noticed though when I peeled off my Race Shield. I see that the film was a bit blackish in color. And after my wife has read some post in the internet, it would seem that after long use, the paint of your phone, (in that case for the iphone as it was an iphone forum) transfers to the shield. Worst scenarios for other it totally wrecked the finish of their phones. That is one thing that I worry about that is why I am a bit hesistant to go back to any full body protection product.
