Settings Screens - Disable Samsung GUI

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have several settings to make on my OmniaII i8000 phone that are not available in the settings pages that Samsung provides.

Specifically, I need to access the original WinMo 6.1 settings for the phone application.

Can anyone advise how to view the original page instead of Samsung's (probably through registry tweak)?

Thanks,

David

Go to samsung settings and disable touchwiz UI. afterthat the "start" button on the top left would lead you to winMO settings.

Thanks for your answer, but it is disabled already, yet despite that, when you chose the WinMo "Settings" link from the Start menu, some of the internal pages are not WinMo standard pages, but rather Samsung menus, with many important settings missing.

maybe you could provide examples?which are the winmo settings you want to access?

See the line:

Then, go to Today menu, Settings, Phone, Internet, and select "Only if cellular is not available" or "whenever available" according to your needs.

I don't have the "Internet"tab, because the Samsung settings GUI is actually not made of tabs.

That's what I get:

You need to edit this line in registry:

'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\'

Change 'HideSettings' to '0'

In 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell' I only have 'RegFlush' folder and nothing else.

I think it can only be disabled in WM6.1....

Gosh, I really hate touchwiz UI!!! and there is no freaking way to get rid of it in WM6.5......yet?

Show Windows Setting in Start Menu[WinMo 6.5]

* Open any registry editor, go to path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\ amd change Value 'HideSettings' to '0' (credits to rodrigofd)

* Also you can enable it using SKtools

Credits to tacchan23.

If you are talking about removing all the samsung settings and reverting it to those like in HTC phones, no one has done it for now.

The samsung settings might be removed in rodrigofd's ultra light rom here as noted from :

3) I ripped almost ALL SAMSUNG SOFTWARE. So i'll just note what i actually left:

Samsung Camera App

Samsung FM Radio App

Samsung Touch Player

Arcsoft Streaming Player (includes video and audio codecs)

The rest is gone

But i am unsure of this as i do not use this rom of his but the Leo rom.

Finally got it working via command line shortcut!

What you all who need to disable Samsung TouchWiz UI is a command line argument to start a file from windows !

First use the registry hack as mentioned in previous posts, ie,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\ amd change Value 'HideSettings' to '0'

Now comes the second part to display the "Samsung TouchWiz UI" settings panel!

For this if you could use resco explorer, it will be easy or use any other utility to create shortcut of executable!

Navigate to "Windows\setting_t.exe" and create a shortcut of this file at any place of your liking.

Next using Resco Explorer click and hold this shortcut to display the pop-up menu and select properties.

In the "shorcut" tab's target area insert /lstartmenu in the end to make it look like,

"\Windows\setting_t.exe" /lstartmenu
, press done and execute it!

TouchWiz UI is there.

I have executed it on my b7610 and it will work in i8000 too!

Samsung TouchWiz UI is normally disabled by default in all i8000 6.5 rom .... there was a cab in tips and faq to reactivate the 6.1 menu on 6.5 to enable or disable touchwiz

The cab given in tweaks works fine if you do it for the first time. If somehow you enable touchwiz and again want to switch it off, there is no success. In that case this shortcut will come in handy!

You can try any of the above mentioned tricks! Simple use of cab is good enough if you are not easy with registry et al.

I don't see how. None of the above work.

What do you mean by "Simple use of cab..."?

Thanks,

David

@ dstu i have a i920 and i was looking for the windows settings, trying to get to rotation settings. Any way i think it was one of the attached files, but when i installed it, it installed a second settings icon for the "old scool" settings. if they don't work let me know and i will hard reset my device and see if i can recreate it.

Enable_Settings_rotation_1_.cab

EnableThreadedSms_1_.cab
