Guest Pagemakers Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 You certainly must be. congratulations! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 And what about bluetooth with this ROM ? Does it work fine, better than on the SPVE200 ? Does bluetooth modem dial-up work with WM2003 PocketPCs ? Edupin, I have the same firmware version than Paul has in my Qtek8080. Had the phone now since shortly before Christmas and unfortunately I can answer all your questions with NO ! There is only one BT profile visible (which is called SSA or SAA) and I have no idea what it is doing. Definitely it is not good for providing modem functionality. Strangely if you browse thru the files of your Qtek you will see many dll's which obviously are in connection with BT. Yet BT is not working and it looks as if the device is somewhat between a beta and the commercial final. Really strange. (BTW: I have now owned many iPAQ models and some also consumed very much energy, which was able to be corrected later by a firmware update. You can't compare the Qtek with an iPAQ of course, but both are from HTC... ;-) So let's wait and see. Hopefully not too long !) Sadly I have to say (again, as I did here before): My good old Nokia 6310 connects via BT like a charm, and I have always BT switched on. I cannot see any significant degradation to the battery life compared to having it switched off (or switched on by demand only). And I'm almost convinced at least this can be fixed by a firmware patch. Whether the high overall power consumption can be fixed remains to be seen as I still haven't read any report explaining (and proving !) what specifically causes the high drain. If you ask me I would also be glad to be able to turn down the brightness of the display (btw: the display is of very good quality !). If you're standing in an absolutely dark room you can almost use your Qtek8080 like a torch, as the display is so bright. My suspicion (note: without being able to prove it by fact) is that a great deal of the power (over-)consumption is caused by the display itself. If this proves to verify then an optimized firmware might only improve the power consumption marginally. *** Still I haven't heard or read a comparison of the Qtek8080 (lates firmware version) with the commercial (or pre-commercial) versions of, let's say, Motorola MPx220 or other forthcoming makes of Smartphones. THIS indeed could give us at least a semi-quantitative benchmark, enabling us to judge if really ALL Smartphones (note: color displays generally consume more power) are eating so much power or if it's just the Qtek8080. Anybody out there as lucky as to own more than one Smartphone make (e.g. a tester, freak etc.) ??? Regards Gerhard
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I will be testing the iMate 1.9 ROM soon, and posting my findings... P
Guest Pagemakers Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I might buy one on Friday if it's going to be better than the E200 fiasco rom.
Guest lutzh Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 @ pagemakers: i have one over here with 1.9 - want it? pn if so... cheers, lutz
Guest Pagemakers Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Regarding the iMate 1.9: 1 Does inbox have a delete all feature? 2 Just how much better is the battery life? 3 Does BT work with Pocket PC’s now? 4 Do you still get that awful ding when adding a contact to sms's or emails? 5 Does it poll the email server correctly (auto download) even if you are not on the relevant email account tab on inbox?

Guest timothee Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Hmm...interesting topic. Well, if I understand well, you are playing with ROM packages on your E200 phone? I guess you are able to swap the ROM or am I wrong here (do you own so much phones? :D)? If you are able to swap ROM's, could you please tell me how to do that? I got the newest NL ROM update v2.6.3.3 but don't want to upgrade before I know if there is a possibility to backup my original v1.6.0.0 ROM and/or downgrade to the original ROM if I don't like the upgrade. Sorry for crossposting this question (I already asked something similar in the Dutch forum), but is there anyone who can give me the definitive answer regarding the possibility of backing up/downgrading your ROM? Is the SmartphoneBackup.zip tool, which is freely downloadable from coolsmartphone.com, able to assist with this?
