Guest James Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 50 quid credit?! They gave you money? wow! o yess! they love me!
Guest M@rkC Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Way to go jlowap - I'm impressed!! Planning to get my own E200 today - birthday present to self, methinks!! As a matter of interest, what's the technique for getting a £50 quid credit applied to your account; I can follow the logic behind the free upgrade (I've got four handsets on contract - mine, wife's and my two sons - so my bills are usually around £100pm). Phoned upgrades on Thursday 22nd and was quoted £49.99 - not bad, but was quoted £79.99 by Orange shop and £60 buyback on my 6310i.....now I'm really confused!! If I can get the E200 for nowt AND get £50 account credit, I'll keep the 6310 on PAYG as an emergency backup. A transcript of your phone call would be nice - I just reckon O will call my bluff and say "OK, here's your PAC, now sod off" :!:
Guest Gorskar Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 What do you think my chances of a free upgrade to an e200 are with a £30/month average bill? I'm not even sure I want an e200, might rather me an mpx220, but just how long I'd have to wait, who knows  On a side note I noticed This offer today, a free e200 on talk 120 I am VERY wary of mobilerepublic though. Last year I tried to order an SPV off them and they spent about 2 weeks not getting it in when they said they would, so I cancelled it with them (and that wasnt easy as the phone number is VERY well hidden on their website)
Guest fraser Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I'm watching this with interest, upgrade time for me soon. I'm going to wait until there is a newer model available, one that doesn't have the failings that either phone has (camera & bulky). I'm definitely going to wait for the mpx220 or another new model. For a good "next" phone, I think bluetooth and an integrated camera are essential. Size is important too...I went from a Motorola Vdot to the SPV. Ouch!
Guest Flash Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 What do you think my chances of a free upgrade to an e200 are with a £30/month average bill? I'm on a standard £25 a month, although actual bills are usually £30 - £35. Orange offered me a free E200 AND I didn't even ask for it! (see earlier post)
Guest Deemon Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Well Ive just tried and failed miserably. I was told in no uncertain terms that Orange would never give away the E200 for free. Even if I upgraded my service plan to the most expensive one £50 odd a month i would still have to pay about £10 to ugrade. Even when i said that I KNOW 100% that orange have given them away she told me that i must be wrong cos she had never heard of this happening.... So i told her id be cancelling my contract and she said "well if thats what you want..I cant stop you" This just about ends my contract with orange.... So tomorrow im going out to find the best deal i can on an E200 or Qtek ..any recommendations ????
Guest fraser Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 You weren't supposed to tell them that others have gotton this. You should have come across as a parting customer.
Guest wilky Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Deemon, Can I ask who you spoke to? If Orange said that to you...which whilst disgusted I am not suprised some of the guys there seem to get arsey for no reason. I am not back in work until Tuesday next week but PM me and I`ll have a look into your account. I arrange Jlowap's upgrade and have helped Gears from coolsmartphone out in the past with replacements etc  . I used to work in the Retentions team at Orange for four years however I know work in an offline team (still at orange about 20 yards away from old desk!) but I have a load of connections and mates working there. Even if I can`t arrange you a free upgrade I will at least get the truth...ie I`ll find out the cheapest deal Orange will offer you to keep with the network as it sounds like you just got a fool on the phone. Wilky
Guest Deemon Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 oops...my bad Wilky..ive PMd you... many thanks for any help you can give..
Guest Gorskar Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Well I've been quoted £50 for the e200 if I upgrade to talk 200 (£30/month) which seems an ok ish price. Do you think I could do better though? This was the upgrades department I was speaking too bear in mind...
Guest Deemon Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 now see i would probably have gone for that...why are they so inconsistant ??
Guest Flash Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Just a thought, but I've always upgraded my phones directly through O - this might have some bearing on the free E200 upgrade I received ie. I've never bought a phone / upgrade from third parties.
Guest Deemon Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 i always go through orange they are the ones who can never say the same thing to two people
Guest wilky Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I have pm you'd back mate. If indeed that is the correct grammatical use of the phrase "pming someone back" and you hatton if you are ready this you`ve got one as well. I`m just about to go home from work now before I get snowed in so a reply will take a little while
Guest Muzz Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Inconsistant Orange: Like so many, I was coming to the end of my contract and after reading all the posts on this website decided that I too was going to get an E200 for free. I phoned orange and spoke to one of their advisors and enquired about my upgrade choices. Was told that the E200 would be £100 and that is with a discount ? - yeah right. I said that was too much and I wasnt willing to pay £100 for a phone I can get for free with a new contract. She said that was my choice. Really helpful! Phoned the next day, spoke to a diffrent advisor she quoted £75 right off the bat - Improvement at least but still not good enough, after talking phone bills, talk plan etc she said she would do it for £49 if I go up to talk 400 and thats the best they can do, said I would think about it. Decided to phone back the next day and threatend to cancell my contract went through to disconnections and used the old PUK code threat. Alot of silence then tapping of keyboard and then offerd free E200 - free picture messages - free bonus pack and same talkplan - success!!!!!!! Why not just offer this straight away to save all this fu*%ing about. Valued customers hmmmm????

Read the rest of the thread, it's clear that they won't give you any leeway until you practically cancel. Why is everyone acting so surprised?
Guest pisquee Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 My advice, don't bother calling upgrades, and just call retentions first, and say you're thinking about cancelling your contract. Upgrades are not the ones who can make the deals.

Guest ferret Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 To get my free e200 all I did was to ring disconnections and say "I've just spoken to upgrades" and then the man simply said "what phone you after", quite lucky if you ask me!
Guest bigdan Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Just spoke to Orange and asked "What is involved in taking my number to another network?" ...ended up with a free E200 and double talktime for 12months, 400 minutes to any network for the price of 200 (£30 per month)!!!
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I had no problems. I rang Orange on Monday last week and asked what I had to do to upgrade my SPV to e200. Orange dude said "we can do that for free and have it delivered by Wednesday". It was delivered to my work around midday on the Wednesday. Good service. :)
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I haven't read the whole thread just the first ppost, the SPV E200 is free from an Orange shop as far as I know. On £25+ contract.
Guest James Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 yes most phones are mate. just they usually change for upgrades Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 yes most phones are mate. just they usually change for upgrades Posted from my SmartPhone! Well the guy at the Orange shop said upgrade and new customer prices are now the same, and I read that this was the case in the Orange book a few months ago too.
