Just bought Xbar 2 from Handango having been a very satisfied user of Xbar 1 (Free).

I installed it successfully on my Orange SPV E100 but it appears to have slowed my phone down to a crawl. I wait a while then the phone seems to revive. Then it's lightening fast until I open the next application/task then it slows down again. I think it must be some sort of memory allocation problem where the phone runs out of memory and slows down.

My question is:

1. Is Xbar 2.0 compatible with SPV E100?

2. Are there settings I need to adjust in xbar_cfg file?

I would love to get this thing to work now that I've bought it.

Thanks

Okay been using X-Bar 2.0 a lot for the last week or two, and while I think it's a great program, I'm fairly sure that it's messing up my SPV.

I already mentioned it in an earlier post, that a LOT of the time my Action Button seems to stop working. If I quit all programs running with SP Task Manager (that's triggered by the record button) - the action button works again...

I just did a Hard Reset of my phone today, and only have 4-5 programs installed other than X-Bar .. and it seems to be doing it a lot more now *confuzzled*

Seems to really slow down my phone as well... or at least use up a lot of the memory. With all programs shut down (again via SP Task Manager...) it just drains all the phys mem in no time...

I'll try re-installing the ROM tomorrow .. but would be great with some feedback, I can't be the only one with this problem?? (Hopefully...)

The weird thing I have been experiencing since I installed XBar 2.0 is this...

I can't browse the net anymore!?!? I click on my favorites or links I created in a PIE screen and I just see the little windows icon for a split second, then it disappears and nothing else happens. It doesn't connect to GPRS or anything?!

Now I can't garauntee this is the fault of XBar, but I have been able to browse the net fine until I installed XBar 2.0 :?

@yoos

I suspect your loss of GPRS is related to something else because I can connect to Orange GPRS OK using xBar 2.0.

I recall having that GPRS connection problem when I had a Traffic Meter application running in the background. I think it was called iMeter (by the same author as xBar).

The symptoms of my problem with xBar 2.0 are analogous to Windows XP running dangerously low on physical memory. That is, applications taking ages to open, cursor movements taking long to register etc..

I hope others can associate with this problem and hopefully explain it a bit better than I can. I have mailed the xBar Support team regarding this too.

OK, literally 1-2 min after I made that post I rebooted my phone and it stuck in the smartphone 2002 screen and did a partial hard reset. I really don't know if XBar 2.0 caused any of this, but I did just remember that I did actually start to have phone problems after I installed Jeyo Personalizer. After I installed that app I was able to browse the net, but other things were acting up... who knows... I'm going to do a hard reset tomorrow, reinstall the latest XBar 2.0 and go from there... I was noticing some other weird things too, that probably aren't related to Xbar so we'll see what happens after the hard reset...

Just re-downloaded latest version from Handango. It is still named xBar 2.0. Are you sure this is a newer updated version 2.0?

I think it's still the same one I downloaded earlier today.

More importantly its giving me the same problems.

I've done some more testing and discovered something interesting.

Does anybody know what the 'CwTimeOut' process does?

I believe there is a conflict between xBar 2.0 and 'CwTimeOut' which drains the memory of the SPV resulting in total slowdown.

xBar 2.0 works great after I kill the process 'CwTimeOut'.

Hmmms sounds about right ... would be great with some response from Xetra ... or some testing on the new version... cause it's really slowing down my phone. The action button problems I've been having, might be because of low phys mem *shrug*

yes, cwtimeout is a process that reduce power batteries, and slow down other resident process such as xbar (or another time base process).

i can't made a fix, because the problème is in cwtimeout :)

sorry for that

It's ok.

I have deleted the 'cwtimeout' process so it does not launch on startup. I see no loss whatsoever. In fact my SPV runs much faster and more importantly so does xBar.

Thanks

p.s. Thanks for xBar 2.0 (Signed Version) which I downloaded today. Working great!

I have tried this and even bought it..................but to be honest couldn't seem to get it to work properly and £5 for a temp gauge is a bit excessive!

I copied shortcuts and renamed them as per their shortcut number into Xbar2 directory but none of them worked.

I am very un-techie but honestly can't see the benfit of this software unless someone can put me right that is............
