Guest RobMiles Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 If you want to say something; say it big. I knocked together a little E200 App which lets you tell it like it is, accross a crowded room. You can add a picture and a message of your choice, and it scrolls smoothly over the screen to tell the world your feelings: If you want to share your love with someone else, and personalise your message with a piccy from your camera, just copy the attached program into your StoragewindowsStart MenuAccessories folder and fire it up. You can edit the text for your message and select a picture to go on the front. Enjoy, and Happy Valentines all.....HandBanner.exe
Guest dude55 Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 This is the story of how I met my ex-girlfriend thanks to my SPV. Just after Valentine's day I was feeling low, because I had just been dumped. However I had to travel to London by train that day. Being an email addict, I always make sure that I have my Smartphone with me. About one hour into the journey, a lovely lady sits opposite me on the other side of the table. Feeling a bit bored, I decide to check my emails on my SPV. *Doodooderup* I got an email, yey! So I feel my jacket pocket for my glasses, but lo and despair, I'd forgotten them at home. :) I kindly ask the lady to help me out and read the email for me. She gives the phone an intriguing look. A bit hesitant at first, she starts reading: "- So it's from [email protected]" "- Ah, sounds interesting, could you please read on?" I answer. "Dear dude55, Thank you for taking part in the MoDaCo and Microsoft Valentine's Day competition. We are pleased to let you know that you've won a Smartphone of your choice. Please let us know of your decision as soon as possible. Congratulations! Paul xxx " I was pretty excited and happy by then. "That sounds cool, what's this all about?" She asks. So I start explaining the concept of Smartphones to her, and mention how great the MoDaCo website is. I then go into detail about the Valentine's day competition on the aforementioned site. Using my natural wit and wisdom (ahem), I engage her in conversation, literally charming the pants off her . Feeling some sort of connection, and considering I was quite happy with my SPV, I end up by asking her if she wants the phone. She thought I was joking at first so remained a bit dubious. After a bit of convincing she finally accepted the offer. We obviously had to exchange numbers and meet up on several occasions. We got together and it went well for about a year but unfortunately she dumped me just before Valentine's day.
Guest Mocking Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Trough dust and scratches I can see A nice girl her face on my SPV How did that photo get on my screen? How did I find a girl so extreme? All these questions burned inside So I asked my friend, full of hope and pride If he knew her name or where she was from Did they know where I met her and how did that come? Since they envied me still for my really cool phone They acted unknowing and left me real lone So there I was, my heart all set but without a clue And my friends wouldn’t help me so I went off to pursue What made me remember her face, oh so bright, Also made me unknowing, so I kept thinking inside: “If I could only find out her name of that shine I might make a chance of making her mine” Maybe my phone held info about the dear girl So I grabbed the great thing and gave it a whirl From photo’s to movies and address to note There’s nothing about her that I might have wrote Then I figured I might still have a chance If that girl went back to where I captured a glance So I waited a week, still quite alone I even called up a psychic with my really nice phone Off course those psychics where a rip off and costed me cash But I was so deep in love I couldn’t think rash I wasted so much time wap and msn Although I couldn’t find what I looked for as much as I can Then the day of judgement was there! Might I again catch a glimpse of her hair? I walked inside looking once more again At the picture of the girl and then inside I ran. I saw her quite fast and I ran to that girl that must be But then I saw something that came as a big shock to me My friend was with her, yes the friend that denied To help me with my search to the girl so he lied! I walked to the guy, who I now hated and liked As a good friend but now as well a foe I disliked I said to him that I found it really low And that I really felt like giving him a blow I was so desperate I told him that that nice girl Was worth everything to me since she’s just a beautiful pearl Then he agreed on giving me a chance cos he saw we really match So off course I was happy but what was the catch? I soon found out, he wanted my GSM The device that made me find that beautiful femme I didn’t think twice and I agreed on the trade The ultimate sacrifice for a price so supreme My smarthpone for the girl of my dream! So now we’re together and happy for quite some time Off course without smarphone, but that is quite fine A smartphone I can buy, I can sell I can try But the love of my life a gift from the sky! Now I’m here with a nokia 3210, it really sucks I would buy a new one, but this girl costs me quite a few bucks! (c next post for a reunion picture)

Guest felixdd Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Not a story, but I'm planning on going out somewhere with my gf (or just staying home), and I'll play romantic music with the speakerphone on the MPx200, and then we'll dance to it under the stars (or the luminence of incandescent light bulbs :))
Guest nickcornaglia Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 Can we provide bal & mocking with a consolation prize of instructions on how to resize images to an appropriate size for a forum post?
Guest Simon Desser Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 "]Just share a story (in this thread) in which your Smartphone helped you get someone’s attention...... A few months ago, we got invited to Amsterdam to see the Robbie Williams concert (I'm friendly with his drummer) The night before the concert, Robbie's drummer Chris, invited us to their hotel for a drink. The bar was closed to regular residents, and so there was only Robbie, his band/crew and us in the bar 8) Suddenly, my phone rings, and Jump Around by House of Pain comes blasting out  this caused a bit of a stir with some of the band members, who called Robbie over to check out my phone  Well, what else could I do, I proceeded to play Robbie a video of himself on my phone :) I know the idea was to tell a romantic story, but my phone certainly "got someone's attention" and my wife got to kiss Robbie  (I didn't take pictures in the bar with Robbie because it wouldn't have gone down very well, and it was too dark, but here's a pic of the gig taken with my phone :D )Robbie in Amsterdam.jpg

Guest Simon Desser Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Coulnt Chris have gotten you better seats!? :) I know, the seats look pretty crappy, but they were in the "VIP" section. We got back stage passes and went to the after show party :D (altough Robbie didn't show up  ) (Here's my Guest Pass Wrist Band)RW Guest Pass.jpg
