Beta 1 Refresh: --> An update which resolves these issues is on smsnotify.developer.net.nz

You must install the OpenNETCF cab and the SMSNotify B1 Refresh and then all will work.

Thanks for your feedback.

Mmm - Doesn't work. Assigned a wav to someone who had sent me a txt, then marked the txt as unread but assigned wav did not play. Only default wav played. Any ideas ? - Nice app though m8 !

Hey Nato.

Marking a read sms message as unread will not cause an event for SMSNotify to play the sound you have assigned... if this is all you have done.

SMSNotify will only be called when the sms message is initially received from the raio layer on the mobile device.

Once you assigned the wav to the contact did you get them to send you another sms message ? as this would be the only way to really test it.

You could add yourself into your POOM contacts and add you number and them send SMS message to yourslef to test. Can you let me know if this works?

Also clairify if what I said above is what you did..

If it did not work, if you could tell me the format that the numbers that you receive are. For example, in NZ, most sms messages come up as +6421XXXXXXX , do your sms messages include the international code as well?

thanks for your feedback.

The more I hear and the sooner I get feedback like this the quicker I can produce a final product, where those that help will surly get a gift copy :P

Hey Jason,

I have also tried sending a sms to myself as you suggested, but still got the default wav not the assigned one. My number is in my contacts list and in international format. One question - does the default nmber have to be the mobile number? - I have home set as default. Will try...

Ok set the default number to be my mobile number just in case. Still the same result i'm afraid. The default wav played and the sms counter does not increase either. In task manager SMS notify is running.

Can I clarify I have installed it right first...

Downloaded and installed OpenNETCF.SDF.SMP.ARMV4 to phone.

Downloaded and installed SMS Notify.exe to phone.

Did nothing else apart from going into app itself !

yes, the order you detailed is correct.

Can I ask that you provide me with the format of your number (dosnt have to be your real number, just the format) that is in your Contacts database (for yourself, or someone) and what that number appears as in the actual SMS message.

For example, My number is in my contact database as 021XXX5678

When I receive a sms it comes as +6421XXX5678

If you could provide this I will look at it first thing and provde an update for you.

You could also look under the key HCUsoftwaredeveloper.net.nzSMSNotify and let me know what format it is in there too.

Thanks

EDIT - I dont get it !- I tested with a text from myself 2 times. The first time my number came up 07891 etc - the second time full international format ! - Anyone ????!!!

Nato,

Can you confirm that you number in your contacts database is [ +447891xxxx62 ] . If so, this could be the reason, though Im not 100% sure. If it is, and you have access to a registry editor, could you try the following.

1) Close down the SMSNotify GUI app from the tasks application

2) Using a registry editor, navigate to HCUSoftwaredeveloper.net.nzSMSNotify+6447891xxxx62 and delete the key that represents your number

3) Change your number in your contacts database from +447.... to be just 07891xxxx62

4) Open SMSNotify and reassign yourself a tone.

5) Send yourself a msg.

I will simulate your number tonight (my time) and see if I can reproduce.

If so, then I will provide a fix ASAP.

Thanks

Jason

Nato,

I have tested on my emulator with the number +447891123462 in my contctas database and simulating a txt message coming from that number as well.

when I test it it plays the sound. If it is not working I can only speculate that the dll is not getting loaded on the phone.

This would be as it calls the SMS subsytem, a phone must be unlocked fully, or the app must be signed (Which SMSnotify is not)

Or your phones processor m ay be the wrong one for which the dll was compiled for. I compile dit for ARM processors. Is that what your phone has?

Jason,

Doh ! I had a new handset delivered at the weekend and haven't unlocked it yet !

Will try the App when unlocked mate. Sorry for stupidity and i cant believe I overlooked this.

Thanx for swift responses though.

download beta 2 again. it has a certificate in it for unlocked phones which should allow the main dll to be loaded upon sms interception.. but only for unlocked phones that is.
