Guest the bishop Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 yes, I keep emailing them too .... well, not emailing -- you have to submit a request for support (like a ticket) and then they reply. I have 7 or 8 in and they're all about things that are not working. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. . .
Guest pwest13 Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 bah! Looks like theres very little hope of our GAPi ever being fixed: Subject:Re:GAPI Message:dear customer, sorry for this, so far we have no the plan to update the software. :D Westy
Guest schriss Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 With support like this, who will buy their new Smartphones?? I will think 5 times before i buy Mitac again, and then I will prey they didn't break anything in it... Imagine new ActiveSync version is out and turns out to be not compatible with Mitac only, and support's response will be: "so far we have no plan to update the software, we are busy developing new phones" :D
Guest the bishop Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 yep. i'm evil. i'm making all my friends jealous with this phone, telling only of the good things, and then when the new moto MPx300 comes out, i'll sell this for some money and get the new one. 8390 = 9/10 stars, Mitac support = 1/10 stars. Overall Mitac experience = 5/10 stars. Sha. no thanks.
Guest picard_beta Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 is there really no fix for the GAPI issue on mio 8390? are all 8390's effected? i could try to make a GDI wrapper or even better find the frame address (i'am almost sure it has a fixed address). i just don't want to waste my time if it's already done or a ROM update is in sight. i'am ready to invest some time because there is a chance i will buy one (which could help me in BetaPlayer development)
Guest schriss Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Picard: no update is comming for sure, me and others have received a response from Mitacservice  Here it is: "sorry for this, so far we can't have the plan to update the os. It can support the java game." Phone looks good, works good, is simply great, especially when clocked at 300MHz :D (BetaPlayer's benchmark shows data rate over 700kbps  ) I'm with you, can help developing/testing a fix/wrapper! :D I also think the frame buffer is fixed address for every Mio8390, it's pretty logical, but I'm not a programmer  May God bless you :D You would make me and others most happy Smartphone owners :D
Guest picard_beta Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 if i send you a detection program as .exe file can you run it on the phone or should a make a mini install? (it would be best executed from SD card, because it will create an output file)
Guest schriss Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 can be .exe (I just sent you PM) There is hope for GAPI on Mio8390 :D
Guest pwest13 Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 i thoguht GAPI meant Gaming API which is like Gaming Apps/Applications, but i may be wrong. I would be willing to help you if i can to develop a fix but im not that technology advanced, in fact i would say im technology handicapped. just joking. Gimme a PM if i can help in anyway. Westy
Guest schriss Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Basically, GAPI works on Mio8390 (hopefully), the "only" part that does not work is the routine returning a frame buffer address. Thant's why recompiling an app does not require rewriting it completely, it can still use GAPI for various tasks.
Guest picard_beta Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 see this topic: http://modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=110450
Guest schriss Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 To put it simple: THERE IS A WORKAROUND for broken GAPI on 8390 to make ALL games/apps work on Mio8390 :D  :D http://modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=110450 Picard is da man :D Time to celebrate!!! :D
