Guest DiNE Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Hi SpaceMonnkey, i can't use paypal, my credit card has never worked through that service, how else can i get registered? cheers
Guest fozzie Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Spacemonkey - not sure if it's just me but since the Surreal Start changed to be much quicker at start-up, I now seem to get a delay when going into sub-menus, that I never used to get with the older versions. In fact, a couple of times the delay seemed to be as long as when Surreal Start isn't running so I had to check that it actually was. Any ideas?
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 DiNE. I will shortly be putting SurrealStart on Handango which offers some more payment options. Hopefully this will do what you need. Since handango thinks in american it'll be priced at $10US. grooveeo, I think there is a problem with part of the app the runs at boot time on translated phones. I am going to investigate this, and hopefully it will just be a case of adding a number of parameters to the program. fozzie, the new quick startup method doesn't cache icons at first run, hence the speed up. However, the first time you look at an icon it must read it, hence the slowdown sometimes. After you've looked at a program once it remains cached so performance should be better the longer the phone has been on and the menu has been running "un refreshed". Another point on very slow icon reads... if you are running an e200 the SD Card issues allready known with the e200 may well be contributing to the excessive slowdown you are experiencing.

Thanks spacemonkey - I thought it would be something like that. I must admit though, I prefer the way it used to work and just have one long delay at start-up rather that several delays as each new sub-menu is encountered. Thanks anyway.

Me too... except when I'm testing new functionality where the new method saves me loads of time... maybe I'll add this as an option. There's a few other option on/off things I'm thinking of adding so maybe a little sub menu for them.

Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I prefer the new "loading style" - but an option to turn off/on would be the best solution for all *S*
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 For those of you who don't like paypal... Handango o/
Guest jeRrRKKKK Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 great i installed it... and i didn't register... when ever i boot up my phone, it asks for registration code... which i don't have so i press cancel... and later i can't access any programs... nor can i uninstall this software!!!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 I have experienced that before. Try this... If you have PHM Registry Editor, you can enter the default ':MSStart' entries. Here is the path (e100): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Microsoft->Shell->Rai->:MSStart then click Values Value name: 0 Value data: MSStart Value name: 1 Value data: appman -s BootApps :MSStart tpcutil.dll AMStart Im not sure though if its the same reg path for MPX200 phone. Im using e100 right now. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jeRrRKKKK Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 problem is, i can't access the registry cause there are no applications i can enter... lol
Guest spacemonkey Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 If you press cancel at the registration screen it should still run and work just with an annoying banner and message... Anyway, if you can't access anything, can you use activesync? If so connect the phone to active sync and browse to IPSMProgram FilesSurrealStart (or StorageProgram FilesSurrealStart) and delete the file closeappman.exe. Reboot your phone and you should have the normal start menu. Then go in and uninstall it. Don't forget to do this uninstal step as it will fix up the registry properly.
Guest TANKERx Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 I'm unable to add speed dials to my applications from Surreal Start. When I do, it takes me to the Speed Dial application, but that doesn't let me set a speed dial. Does anyone know the executable of the old (original) Start Menu application which I can quickly run to set my Speed Dials and continue with SurrealStart?
Guest TANKERx Posted June 20, 2004 Report Posted June 20, 2004 Any help from anybody? Please? At the moment, I have to uninstall SurrealStart if I want to add a SpeedDial.
Guest scott2eyes Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 Well, if I look at my speed dial shortcut, this is what it points to; appman -s Apps :MSScut tpcutil.dll AMScut I have no idea what that means! All the other shortcuts seem to make sense! (eg "IPSM/Program Files/Some exe file or other") :-k
