Guest Brody Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Sorry, I heard too many 'hoorays' when the E100 was announed to believe that the Charlotte is ANY advance. Still, it seems to please someone... :? The "hoorays" when the E100 were released were primarily because it had bigger keys, better build quality, a better screen and the new ROM (1.5 at the time), all of which will be the case with the Charlotte (the ROM will no doubt be a newer than the E200's), now i agree that it probably wont be much better than the E200 but it is nothing like the original SPV apart from its looks.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 ... all of which will be the case with the Charlotte... better build qualityBased on what evidence? a better screen Based on what? More than 65k colours? Brighter?
Guest MECX Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 hes was comparing it with the orginal SPV (it will have a better screen than the orginal SPV etc) because your orginal comment said that is was 'HTC overstock'. The Original SPV had a Very poor screen (much worse than E100's) a terrible keypad and worse build quality. This new charlottle device will have the same screen as the E200 a much better keypad and since its is a whole new case and not just 'HTC overstock' much better build quality. This phone is EXACTLY the same as the E200 except for looks--its just a matter of personal choice which one you like---if Orange did release it, it WILL run on the same firmware as it IS an E200 under its dress. :-D
Guest beersoft Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 OK, just to drag this back on topic (I.E. me :) ) I've almost made up my mind on what to do Im thinking, get the E200 at the weekend (*shudder* town + weekend = not happy) and force orange to release the MPx220, and then get a nice moto for crimbo/moan untill they swap the E200 for shiney moto depending on release dates, because those 14 days are usefull  later Owen "resigned to the fact that whatever phone he gets, something better will be along 15 days later"
Guest Dr Who Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I am actually thinking of making an exit from the world of Smartphones!!! I am due to upgrade and the final nail in the coffin for my E100 was a whole new 'feature' at a very inappropriate time. For the first time ever my phone decided not to allow any incoming calls or texts despite still operating in every other respect and showing that I was connected to Orange with (an albeit low) signal. Only found out when I tried to make an outbound call. Repeatedly. For 20 minutes. Missed several important calls and only found out after it was too late to contact everyone that day. Bunch of a**e. Actually I say for the first time but does anyone else get these "Free Missed Call alert"s from Orange? They are NOT MISSED calls - they were not received by my phone. As a marketing thing I think Orange made a big mistake here. All it tells me is that THEIR service wasn't up to scratch and couldn't connect a call to me even when my phone is on and with full signal! Or am I missing something here? Ignorance is bliss. E200 sounds like a nightmare. I like to make calls on my phone. Will the MPX100 or Sagem S7 be any better? Is the MPX200 more reliable than the SPV range or does it have a similar feature-rich operation? Anyone have any ideas when the 100 or Sagem are due to be released? I REALLY want a working phone soon. Trouble is the E100 has convinced me that full mobile internet is almost essential and I would like to keep that function. Still, if the increasingly irritating problems can't be ironed out I am going back to Nokia!!!! Never had any problems with them....... Who?
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I have to say, I am due an upgrade at the moment and have been waiting for the MPx220 but there is just to much rumour and too little fact around. If I knew that it would be coming out soon in reality I think I'll wait but not sure. The problem I have had exactly the same problems as Dr Who and like he said, I like to make calls on phone. WOuld be shame to lost internet access though. I'm still umming and ar-ing. I'll prob give a month and decide. Might even defect from Orange after five years! Wish there was a decent phone around to presuade me...
