Guest equis Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 ActiveSync works now but only after I got version 3.7 :D And how in the heck was there an unofficial 2003 from ATT, that reeeeeeeeeeeeeallly sucks since I paid alot of money for this phone when it freshly came out.
Guest TANKERx Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Someone said that some programms that need a lot of space (like lextionary) do not install due to less free memmory in new rom.Can someone try to install it,just to be sure before i upgrade? Also,is there any way that if i do not like it,i can downgrade to 2002? Hi, I can confirm that I'm unable to install Lextionary, also, I have to reboot if I wish to load more than two small counties in Mapopolis (is this because memory management is worse?). For some reason, it seems to me that the system does not respond so quickly as before, but applications do respond much better. Does that make sense?
Guest TANKERx Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Hey guys, it's been 2 days since i upgraded to smartph 2003, everything seems to be working fine, except the battery life. yesterday after i fully chargged it i went to sleep and when i woke up today i noticed the phone was turned off. i tryied turning it on but it would'nt respond i had to take the battery off and after that it started charging ,the battery was depleted, after it was fully charged i didn't even playwith it and 4 hors later, battery was down to zero again, has anybody noticed any problems with the battery???? Do you have the phone connected to a PC with the PC switched off? This happened to me the other day and almost trashed my phone!

Guest jwb Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I've noticed that you can't adjust the volume when playing back wavs through the sounds setting or through explorer :D The rom It seems good and stable though although I really dont think its that much better than the old rom apart from it will be more compatible with the new software and it runs the 2k3 only software of course. I quite like the clearvue though

Guest gsr264 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I also had the 4 hour battery life problem yesterday morning. I thought it may have been because I checked the box in the options menu to allow it to recieve infared data. I unchecked that last night and I THINK it's ok now... we'll see when i pull it off the charger in a few minutes...
Guest must50302 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 @ gsr264, just reflash your mpx200,with wm2003 rom then install the lang pack rom.see if that will help.IT SHOULD.

Guest daedalus888 Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I know this is slightly off topic, and should be in a different forum, however I wanted to ask it here so that @nonymus might read it. Being that you wrote the hacked version of the Mitac Mio 8380 rom, is it possible to expect a WM2003 update for the 8380?
Guest jcjdoss Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I'm pretty sure I've dug thru this post pretty well, I am having problems with my gprs connection mpx200 on Cingular California. Anyone have the same problem, any solutions? Good job @nonmous, by the way, love your poems Well it's offical. I wasted 20 or 30 posts on the gprs thing not working in 2003. I had to use custom setting other than the one my "provider" Provided. The GPRS repository has the answer. Thanks MoDaCo
Guest jcjdoss Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Just 3 points: a) you, midnight, don't own Motorola MPx200 so you don't know what does it mean having nice phone with outdated software. So why are you attacking people who are helping community ? (now ROM for 2003 for MPx200 and previously free Orneta software for everybody) :D comparison to Windows XP is totally inappropriate because any user of PC can buy Windows XP, but Windows Mobile 2003 for MPx200 is not available for sale AL ALL. The fact that msmobiles is offering upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 can be treated as HELP TO MOTOROLA USERS, and if Motorola will not stop msmobiles, but allow to continue then Motorola will benefit A LOT!! Why? Because @nonymous prepares further updates and he can even provide upgrades for upcoming Motorola smartphones like MPx220. Problem for Motorola ? Not tall. Anyway: after using of this ROM upgrade Motorola can "wash hands" decline repairing the phone under the guarantee - the better for Motorola. ca) so please thank me (i.ae. msmobiles.com) and thank @nonymous instead of being simply again jealous. Midnight, I usually agree with you, but on this issue I don't I'm a graphic designer, my dad a programmer. THIS is simply an issue of personal morals. IF I find an image on the net that i like and want to us it as insperation; i Can use it and completely redo it, or use the actual image and change it up enough to where copywrite laws can't apply. SAME With programing. there is a reason companys protect this stuff .. If it gets out they know someone will "reverse engineer it" you might say and they company doesn't really have a legal foot to stand on. . Our glorious XP is a "reverse engineered" Apple computer. Bill Gates did the same thing, if Moto is not seeking legal action and is taking the time to advise Anomnomous. i think we're OK. Keep up the good work, both Midnight and msmobiles. J Doss
Guest bmetelsky Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Installed with no problems and working fine now for half a day! Only bothersome thing was the whole GPRS settings - had to do it manually, even though there was a tool at ATTWS website to send the appropriate settings via sms. It just wouldn't send anything, even thought I know that sms was /is working fine. I also like the cleartype. Everything seems faster. I "believe" that the caller ID works better now. I didn't install the updated stack because I haven't noticed any real problems - can anyone comment on that? Is there any benefit to upgrading that if there are no problems? Thanks.
Guest mcwarre Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 Jeez, Who let MSMobiles back here? I am taking bets on hoe long it is until he gets banned again.......... Answers on a postcard to...............
Guest madds Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 I must agree that it's a completly ilegal rom image. The rom image is divided in pieces, one that contains the core of the operating system (that fits on all smartphones), one that handles the radio stack and other that handles the device specific drivers, languages, operator settings and some other stuff. the last two are usualy called extended rom. @nonimous did not modify the base of the operating system so it's only "crime" was to distribute it without an kind of permission. Then he added the components to make it work with the mpx (maybe ripped from a 2002 extended rom???) and put it together with the 2003 OS. No mather how much you aprecciate this upgrade it's illegal and you should not distribut it even more than it has already distributed. The right decision to Paul and the mods is to Not support this upgrade (giving links or hosting it) but they are surely right to let everyone discuss it in here. This discussion can help the less computer expert to avoid a dead phone or solving problems during the upgrade. Motorola and/or Microsof will certainly have something to say about this update, but i'm sure no legal action or something will be taken. It's up to the reader to decide to upgrade or not, and the consequences are on his responsability. Modaco is well known for keeping it legal (Paul is a microsoft MVP - Most Valuable Person and he must behave well to keep it that way :D and all the mods keep it that way. Please be advised about upgrading to this rom, and you should not question about modaco.com not supporting the upgrade. After all, Microsoft never gave a licence to @nonimous to distribute a rom upgrade.
