Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 No signal seems to be the same as before
Guest AvWijk Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 A friend of mine has done the 2003 update on his MPx200, and he says his reception is better than before :D (he lives like me in the Netherlands and has Telfort as provider)
Guest PiSONG Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I've recently downloaded and upgraded to the new wm2003, with no hitches, errors, or problems. phone is working much much better than before, thanks again to anon for putting this together :D
Guest kyrkesmith Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Ok. Last remaining questions: is the phone slower or faster than before, and can you get rid of the Cartman thing on boot-up?
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 My phone runs faster with wm2k3 as does most peoples according to what I have read, its not exactly a breath taking increase mind you No you can't get rid of the Cartman picture, unless that is you know how to hack the rom Cheers
Guest AvWijk Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 No you can't get rid of the Cartman picture, unless that is you know how to hack the rom I hate that Cartman thing too. :? Can't you do it with a reg fix? If anyone is intersted and able to contact @nymous than Ill make a few better logos :D See my poll elsewhere here.
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 No you can't do it with a reg fix. I agree its not the best of pictures, but it only shows up for a couple of seconds, is it really worth the bother of changing it :?
Guest TANKERx Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I tell you what, Sprite Backup is a handy tool to have at times like this!
Guest moosery Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Orange UK, upgraded today without probs. MSN/GPRS works fine (after putting orange settings in), not tried email. --about orange email hardly connecting, well, to be honest last weekend I couldnt connect AT ALL. So I doubt it's a 2003 problem, I think its just pants. Normally on 2002 it's 50/50 as to whether it works (if that!). not noticed any probs with 2003 other than ok, it can be a bit laggy sometimes if you press a key. I think its just laggy in different places to 2002, and most things seem a bit quicker. I think wmp has brightened up the video a bit too? 8)
Guest markbrouwer Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Everyone, Thanx so much for all the effort in getting WM2003 to the MPX200, something that should have been done by MOTOROLA. One question that I haven't found a clear answer to (even after reading many, many posts): My present MPX200 (unlocked, generic build 13258, ROM 1.0.25.70) is a tri-band (900/1800/1900). Will the notorious @nonymous ROM remain tri-band in WM2003 after flashing? What 2002 ROM can I use as a backup if the WM2003 flash does not satisfy? Thanx for the help.
Guest coyspiracy Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 what's a good e-mail service for smartphone?. icant use hotmail or yahoo. so, what should i use??
Guest flashflash Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 flashflash Have you flagged the "outgoing server requires authentication" in accounts set up? yea, still having problems
Guest simmons21 Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 what's a good e-mail service for smartphone?. icant use hotmail or yahoo. so, what should i use?? Expensive. But great Exchange 2003 Hosting for $10/month: http://www.mailstreet.net/
Guest midnight Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Just 3 points: a) you, midnight, don't own Motorola MPx200 so you don't know what does it mean having nice phone with outdated software. So why are you attacking people who are helping community ? (now ROM for 2003 for MPx200 and previously free Orneta software for everybody) :D comparison to Windows XP is totally inappropriate because any user of PC can buy Windows XP, but Windows Mobile 2003 for MPx200 is not available for sale AL ALL. The fact that msmobiles is offering upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 can be treated as HELP TO MOTOROLA USERS, and if Motorola will not stop msmobiles, but allow to continue then Motorola will benefit A LOT!! Why? Because @nonymous prepares further updates and he can even provide upgrades for upcoming Motorola smartphones like MPx220. Problem for Motorola ? Not tall. Anyway: after using of this ROM upgrade Motorola can "wash hands" decline repairing the phone under the guarantee - the better for Motorola. ca) so please thank me (i.ae. msmobiles.com) and thank @nonymous instead of being simply again jealous. see if you can answer this without attacking me (if thats even possible).... (this has absolutely nothing to do with me owning an mpx200 or not) Is this Rom a legally released rom?
Guest Motofone Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Can't understand email problems on Orange UK. Outgoingserver must be = smtp.orange.net Network should point to = internet Outgoing server authentication should be flagged = on I have two accounts and both work OK
Guest flashflash Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Can't understand email problems on Orange UK. Outgoingserver must be = smtp.orange.net Network should point to = internet Outgoing server authentication should be flagged = on I have two accounts and both work OK I have all the above settings, I am also using orange.net as the e-mail account. Since updating to WM2003, the E-mail has worked once, however, most of the time it just hangs 'connecting'. I have full signal and can get internet at the same time. After about 10 mins, I get 'Sending and recving', and the e-mail works, however, thats after waiting about 10mins. Sometimes I get nothing. I used the E-mail once everyday with the WM2002 Rom, without any major problems.
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 see if you can answer this without attacking me (if thats even possible).... (this has absolutely nothing to do with me owning an mpx200 or not) Is this Rom a legally released rom? 1) this a legal ROM and all owners of MPx200 are free to have it. 2) you don´t have MPx200 so you shouldn´t criticize people who try to help owners of it.
Guest midnight Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 just to confirm then..... 1, So Motorola have given you permission to release this rom, complete with the cartman startup screen etc.???? 2, knew you had to throw abuse in somewhere, i help out plenty of people on this forum as you very well know
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Unfortunately the rom is not legal to own as it has not been released to the public by motorola. When this happens then it will be legal, Also since when has publishing something that has been reverse enginered been legal? It's good for the user but it's also a shame this has not been done by moto
Guest furby Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Everyone, One question that I haven't found a clear answer to (even after reading many, many posts): A little bit more looking and http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=111075
Guest lutzh Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 It's good for the user but it's also a shame this has not been done by moto this is the right question. no answer from noone i guess. as you can see, alot of happy users, more than 20 gigs of download every day, ~25k people watching and ~350 replying in this thread. a hand full of problems that where mostly solved, most of them created by not reading the faq careful or missing the mms/camera point in it - i never saw an update for a e200 beeing that loud cheered before around the world. cheers, lutz
Guest kurtfhouse Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 Can't seem to get e-mail to work on WM2K3  As soon as I hit send/receive it comes up with the error message  "Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again" :? I have set up my GPRS account fine, it logs onto Orange World o.k but the phone doesn't even try to connect with GPRS the error message pops straight up as soon as I hit the button????? Any ideas anyone
Guest stevie_mac Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I've done it! Fantastic. Some questions tho... 1. As I'm in UK on Orange, should I be concerned that the 900 band is unavailable (I've done GSM update) EDIT: OK, 900 is OK if phone initially supports it - shown as 1800 though - that was my confusion! 2. What / where can I get all original settings for orange (i.e. GPRS settings) 3. When I try to reinstall Motorola MMS, the phone complains about the software not being intended for the target device (like it recognizes its a WM2003 & refuses to install! boo hoo) Man - I've waited for this since I got the phone. PS, I don't post often but I always keep a close eye on the scene, so I'll take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in bringing WM2003 to MPX200 - shame moto didn't do it - it almost makes me hate them - almost!
Guest abatis Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I've done it! Fantastic. MPX200 - shame moto didn't do it - it almost makes me hate them - almost! Moto/MS has done the 2003 ROMs, even ATT has a 2003 ROM, I have it. There is a generic that was flashed at the MDC for MVPs. The 2003 factory ROMS have been underground for months. Be pissed they did not release to the public only. Do not think that they did not do mostly what you see. What you see is a customized (stripped) version. Thank anon for finally having the balls to public distribute what has been a little secret among people testing for everyone else's benefit for months. OK now I want a Voq Professional.
Guest Navec245 Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I am going to sound like a sissy...but....I downloaded the rom and want to load it on my phone. I hesitate because I do not have the money to replace my phone should something go wrong. I imagine that whatever bugs are found that @nonym will certainly fix when a server becomes available. I feel like a kid watching others play and have fun, yet I could do the same and lack the cajones. Sad is it not?
