Guest CodesRaider Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Hi everyone, I upgraded my mpx200 to 2003. Then I updated it using the multi language update. Everything is fine and I like the new 2003 in my mpx200. But I have a problem with the T9 feature. I enabled the T9 while composing sms. When I want to type "home", it gives me "good" first. So I use the "0" button to toggle the word to "home", but it does not work!!! It was working in original 2002. Also it seems that the T9 is not able to learn new words. Can anyone confirm this is a "bug"? Any idea how to fix this problem?
Guest TANKERx Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Use the direction pad. This one caught me out as well! Up and down will scroll you through the available words.
Guest w1shmast3r Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 i'm looking forward to this update.... edit by midnight: NO ROM TRADING ON MODACO thanks a lot :D
Guest RobPowell Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 they're 29mb dude, your yahoo won't like that.
Guest CodesRaider Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Use the direction pad. This one caught me out as well! Up and down will scroll you through the available words. Thanks TANKERx. Yup. it's working now. :D By the way, anyone has a MMS client for WM2003? The MMS client that comes along with the mpx200 does not work with WM2003.
Guest stevie_mac Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Are you getting something to the effect of 'This program is not for the target device' or words to that effect? I too would like the MMS part back. Anyone know if this is just some INI setting in one of the files in the MMS install cab detecting WM2003 & then refusing to install - or - is the Motorola MMS software just not compatible with WM2003. If it is just a flag, then maybe someone knows how to adjust this and we can re-install the MMS software that came with the phone!
Guest RobPowell Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 stevie, you obviously haven't read the last 25 pages LOL I had 1 glitch with the phone originally and only have 2 problems, one of which is MMS and that is not supported yet. I look forward to what comes out from that!! The only bug I encounter is with msn messenger. If I write the message "hello to you all" and send it to someone, if I start typing a new line, say the word "tomorrow", as soon as I type 't' the screen shows "allt" basically the last word from the last sentence comes up in front of the letter I type I don't know if this is just my phone or not. But it's a small glitch and I am very happy, props to all involved in getting this release, and moreso for the work to fix GPRS, languages, and hopefully MMS, my MSN, and all the other little niggles!!!
Guest TANKERx Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I get that as well, so you're not a lone. ;-)
Guest Pigo Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Johndoo76 where did you get that multi-language thing? so anybody have an idea as to what the best way is to upgrade my phone? I mean a list of things I should install after the 2003 update. Pigo
Guest tadmartin223 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 One thing I have noticed is that you CAN use .wma files as ringtones, but you CANNOT assign .wma ringtones them to individual contacts, as you will receive an error message "This ring tone is not working properly. You may want to choose a different one to use" This may just be a glitch on my phone, but try it out and let me know. Also, if you're in certain programs, the screen blanks out after about 30s econds, and then when you hit any button to revive the screen, you're back at the home screen. I tried to change the settings for the screen saver, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. Please let me know what's good.
Guest stevie_mac Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 stevie, you obviously haven't read the last 25 pages LOL.Well I did read most (but that was before I done the upgrade!). However, I didn't see any one asking what I asked... "Anyone know if this is just some INI setting in one of the files in the MMS install cab detecting WM2003 & then refusing to install - or - is the Motorola MMS software just not compatible with WM2003" If I missed that question (and answer) then My Bad!. However, if you do know the answer, please tell me - i don't relish the prospect of reading 25 pages again - especially since the site (for me) is very sluggish at the moment!!! Nah, I got that too. Not the end of the world, but is slightly annoying!
Guest kongee Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 hey...anyone know where to dl programs for windows 2003...some of the programs that work for 2002 doesnt work for 2003. what to do guys?
Guest madds Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I thing i noticed, is that with all the upgrades made, if i creat a key called 0816 Portuguese, then got to settings/regional settings and select it, a few parts of the phone really became to Portuguese. In the homescreen instead of profile shows "perfil" in settings instead of phone settings shows "definições do telefone", and the very low battery warning also appears in portuguese. Is there a way of making all the rest appear in portuguese? I'm fine with it in english but would love to get it to portuguese!!!! Someone??? Thank's in advance
Guest Megadeth Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I just did the update and now my phone is having issues: - At first, after I did the rom, I didn't hard-reset just reboot, and it came up in german but everything seemed to work. - I then did hte language update and did the hard reset and it would give me the Insert SIM error - I retried the entire process, with hard resets in between each step, and nothing worked. - Now, it won't even start, just stuk at the Powermoto (cartman) screen ideas? UPDATE: Now it boots up but ends up giving me an error message "Unknown SIM Status, (error 0)".. Weird as if I just say "Done", the phone seems to work... Except that I can't access my Sim through SIM Manager. Any ideas?
Guest chudy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 i dont know if you're waiting long enough... at first mine was stuck for a while but after 3-5 mins it powered up just fine.... also when i took the battery out without turning off the phone, mine would be stuck on the cartman logo, after 10 mins i decided to do a hard reset and it worked just fine after that...but again after a hard reset it takes a while to power up... still having issues with my sim card..does anyone have any updates on the T-Mobile sim card issue?
Guest Sparky280 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Well unfortunately I went back to WM2002, WM2003 was not running to smooth for me, the battery bug is really bad I am at work (no charger) the battery level says full but if I reboot the battery has low warning and is near dead. I dislike the volume bug too I can barely hear speakerphone and ringers, outdoor profile is too loud for me. I finally see what other T-mobile folks were talking about with he SMS bug, it worked for me for a while but now it does not. The only thing I will miss is the pop-up menu when you hit * while typing you can choose symbols and Langs. I really liked that feature. Hopefully in the future a generic WM2003 ROM for mpx200 will be available.
Guest chudy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Megadeth, are you on T-Mobile? if so what does yous sim card look like? what does the front of it say? i'm trying to figure out which sim cards are troublesome and which ones are fine, so I can go to a T-Mobile store and get mine exchanged if its just a matter of getting a diff type of sim. btw, T-Mo crowd, i created a new thread with a poll, so please participate :D thanks
Guest Megadeth Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I am on AT&T Wireless. At least I can phone people and such but not sure what the deal is with my SIM card... Almost afraid to use it incase AT&T doesn't recognize it thus not recognize my phone plan, but I guess if the phone kinda works and can make calls, that part must be fine right?
Guest chudy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Megadeth, that's right...if you can make phone calls and people can call you (which is the case with me as well) then you're definately registered on their network, rest assured ATT is billing you for every minute you're on the phone or they wouldnt let you use the network! :D This is curious, so now we have ATT and T-Mobile that have sim card issues...thats a bummer.... Megadeth, does your sim card say EONS on it anywhere by any chance?
Guest Megadeth Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Cool, just wanted to make sure since I would hate to be surprised with a huge phone bill due to them not 'putting me on my plan" so-to-speak. Interesting that AT&T recognizes the SIM card, thus the phone on the network, and I can receive calls so it is still working, sorta... SIM Card has "GEMPLUS" on back on the connectors and AT&T Wireless on the front, along with 5 rows of 4 numbers.
Guest coyspiracy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 Edit By Midnight: PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST ROMS
Guest chudy Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 can anyone who's still running Smartphone 2002 check out WindowsSIMManager.exe file and siminit.dll file properties using File Manager? (highlight the file then Menu->Properties Under WM2003 properties are as follows: For SIMManager.exe: Size: 73464 bytes Modified: 2004/03/19 AM 10:54:08 For siminit.dll: Size: 9976 bytes Modified: 2003/12/16 PM 13:08:15 just curious if these files are the same as in Smartphone 2002 or not...
Guest Sparky280 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I am running WM2002 version: 3.0 (build 13258) ROM: Ben-6-0920-012 SIMManager.exe is 69.0kb Modified: 5/10/04 02:42am siminit.dll is 10.3kb Modified: 5/01/03 04:06am
Guest combustion Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I cant get pocketMVP to work now.. installs fine but it cant seem to find the vid files on local drive or sd card.
Guest Megadeth Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I did a few more tests. I put in my SIM card from the MPx200 into my Blackberry and the BB works fine and doesn't give a status error on my SIM card (it checks the status and seems to be fine). I put my SIM card from the blackberry into the MPx200 and it can access that SIM card no prob ( I could seethe phonebook listings on my SIM card). So, something is definitely wrong with my Mpx200 SIM card but not enough to make it useless.. Is there anyway to re-initialize the SIM card without losing it settings? EDIT: Talked to AT&T, without too much details of course, and they said that device has the issue with the SIM card and not the card itself. I guess since I only lost my SIM phonebook, or at least access to it, no big deal.
