Guest mskamahoney Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I upgraded my phone... very cool. Primary issue was dropped calls, hoping it fixes this. One problem I have, when I try to access the internet via POP3 mail or through the web browser, I get an error: Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again. I watch the connectivity of the phone, and I see it drop off while it is trying to send/receive, then pick up again, soon after, I get the error. I am lookin all over for a place to set configurations... anything, can't find a thing. Anyone seen this before?
Guest martin Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 You probably have to check the E-mail settings and make sure the data connection is set to 'The Internet'. I think the settings should be under Inbox-Options-Account setup.
Guest mskamahoney Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Did that (set to The Internet). But it is both Email and Browser behavior. Therefore I suspect connectivity configuration or problem rather than email.
Guest martin Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Check what you have set as the 'Internet connection' in Settings-Data connections. It should state the GPRS connection for your network provider. If the GPRS connection has not been created then goto Menu-Edit connections-GPRS connections and create new one with the networks Access Point Name (+ username and password if needed). If it's already setup (and correct) then there could be a fault with your network ?
Guest mskamahoney Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 WOOHOO! It worked! Thanks for the point in the right direction. I was able to find the settings for AT&T on the web, and 'rebuilt' the connection manually.
Guest jke321 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I know I don't have a whole lot of clout around here, but anyone out there that is afraid to upgrade needs to chillout. I had my mpx200 for one day, (first smartphone or upgrade ever) ................................................................................ ............. 3.GPRS bug- there isn't one. you'll have to set your configurations since you are resetting EVERYTHING. Â ................................................................................ .................. BE WARNED: THIS UPDATE WILL MAKE YOUR PHONE MORE USABLE!!! Â Just drop a post with any questions. I won't go back. Could you spell out how you setup GPRS. I am with T-mobile, tried the same old setting, but can't get through. I get connecting, then finding site, then it times out (page you are looking for cannot be found) Thanks
Guest mskamahoney Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Don't know if your with T-mobile in US or UK, here are some links with settings: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html (UK settings contained) http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/...lic/tm21625.htm (from T-Mobile site) http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=66325 (From MoDaCo posting, similar to T-Mobile's info)
Guest kasperb Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Hello, Got a newbie question: What is the download loacation of Smartphone 2003... I'm searching for a while now but I really can't find it! Thanks, Kasper
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 As mentioned a few posts back the ROM has been removed from circulation due to probable leagal reasons.
Guest tehdarkstar Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Hello, If there is someone still reading this thread, I would like to get some comments on that. I have get my MPx200 almost one month ago and have upgraded it to WM 2003 right away. Have not used it on Smartphone 2002. I have been experiencing all kinds of crashes and failures on my phone in this last month. It crashes with no reason, crashes when I put headphones on it, sometimes it just freezes up and after removing the battery to shut it down it won't start Windows again unless I master reset it. After restoring backups from Sprite Backup it won't open the e-mail program any more, avoiding the usability of a backup program. My wife not even laugh of me any more because it just lost its fun. She says that I pass more time reseting and reinstalling this phone than actually using it. Now, the latest joke from my phone is that it won't charge any more, not through USB connection and neither from the AC adapter. I have master reset it, when I connect it to the computer ActiveSync sees it but won't charge at all. I have no clue about what to do other than waiting to get at home and trying to master reset, play with the battery and AC adapter and try to figure out what is going on. This is my first smartphone, but I have a Pocket PC that I have been using from a while. I was expecting some instabilities, but not that much. My question is: Is someone else experiencing the same problems with their phones or is it just my one? Is the original ROM from Motorola more stable than this one? My question is mostly because I'm looking forward for the MPx220, but if it is a half unstable as this one, I will sell my MPx200 and keep distance from MS smartphones from now on... :-P Bye.
Guest juliankay Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 To be fair, it sounds like your handset is fscked. Shame you can't send it back, they'd just send you a new one most likely. You could try putting a 2002 ROM on it, but it sounds like hardware to me.
Guest tehdarkstar Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Yes, I'm starting to believe that there is a hardware problem indeed. I will get it to a MOTO's service centre and see if they can fix it and most probably I will have them reload the SP2002 ROM if they're able to. Now that we're close to the release of the MPx220 I don't feel that need to have the WM2003 right now and I can perfectly wait to get it factory installed on the new device. Cheers.
Guest josephccy Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 anyone here have found jMMS for MPx200 with WM2003?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted August 31, 2004 Report Posted August 31, 2004 jmms does not work for MPX200 phones running the hacked 2003 rom.
Guest Cyclone Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Guys, this is something I didn't really see covered here (as my eyes started to hurt as I searched through the entire thread). After about an hour of playing with my phone trying to get English to work, I realized that in the Regional Settings menu, there is a number at the top of the page. I believe it to be 1090 or something like that. If you did the registry tweak to install english on your phone yet are still stuck in German, here's what you do. In this box, erase the number and enter 0409. I had a walkthru for this entire process however, it didn't mention this. Everybody else on here from what I've seen has said "Goto regional options and set your language to english", however it confused me and I was changing the Locale. Hopefully this will help anybody who was having problems. To better explain, I've posted a pic of what the screen should look like. If somebody has already pointed this out, then I apologize for reposting it. But this was driving me nuts and it fixed my problem so hopefully it'll help others.
Guest anyo Posted September 2, 2004 Report Posted September 2, 2004 [edit by Richie M] No read the rules or this thread  [/]
Guest tehdarkstar Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I'm going to get my new MPx200 on the MOTO's service centre today. They have decided to change the whole phone as the main board was f****d up. I suddenly feel sorry about not having WM2003 on it any more, though...
Guest tehdarkstar Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 I've got my new MPx200 this morning. It was brand new. When I powered it on for the first time and saw the SP2002 startup screen I almost cried, so, I started searching for the WM2003 ROM and in the end I have purchased it from a guy at eBay. Now I have my phone back, with WM2003 and all the software I like... :-)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 8, 2004 Report Posted September 8, 2004 What extra software is there there that 2002 cannot use? there are not that many .net apps at the moment. Shame you had to support the old ebay scum seller to get 2003 :)
Guest mawold Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 For me it is the other way around. I have 1 application that wont run properly on 2003 but did on 2002. Intellisync from Pumatech. It allows me to sync multiple Outlook contact folders all at once. Even my companies public contact folders. In 2003, the program fails and if I want to sync all of my contacts, I have to copy them from all my different folder into my top level Outlook contact folder and then do a sync.
