Guest Disco Stu Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Don't know about the other 2 queries, but it certainly doesn't play MP3 ringtones. Have a read of this thread : http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=9776...2&highlight=mp3
Guest AvWijk Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 No, but since the Windows Smartphone 2003 upgrade you can use WMA ringtones which is even better :P :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 What wma ringtones are you using as I cannot get any to work ? (not played too much with wma though)
Guest FloatingFatMan Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 What wma ringtones are you using as I cannot get any to work ? (not played too much with wma though) If you want to use them as custom ringtones for contacts, then you have to put them in: StorageApplication DataSounds For normal ringtones, I just dump them in root of my SD card & they work fine... (this is on WM2003). FFM
Guest AvWijk Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 I made a few myself with Cool Edit Pro 2.1 I dumped it in the root of my storage card (Mounted Volume) and it worked fine, the file size is great  This one was 7.7mb in WAV, now it is 720kb in WMA, no quality loose :P http://home.hccnet.nl/antalvwijk/TranceTest.wma This one was around 700kb in WAV, now 32kb. http://home.hccnet.nl/antalvwijk/TheMatrix.wma Enjoy, hope you like them :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 Cheers for that :P Now to figure out what went wrong with mine :?
Guest shyne Posted July 17, 2004 Report Posted July 17, 2004 so u cant use WMA ringtones on windows smartphone 2002??
Guest sophantim Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 (Shyne) THATs RIGHT!! but you could use WMA,WAV AND MIDI on windows smartphone 2003 as ringtones.
Guest shyne Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 can u listen to mp3's on speaker while phone is closed??
Guest aliensix Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Yes you can. I do that sometimes to kill off time, listening to a tune while witing for my gal to visit the little girls' room. With the smartphone 2003, its better handled than its predocessor in the sense where you open and close the flap while your music's roaring off from media player, it wont be "jumbled" for half a sec. (Like when you close your laptop's screen while winamp is playing, your music gets a bit jigged then plays properly again)
