Guest Disco Stu Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 WHY ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT THE QUALITY OF GAMES FOR SMARTPHONES... THE SMARTPHONE WASN'T DESIGNED FOR GAMES YOU KNOW! morron :-({|= Actually, "moron" only has one 'r' Please don't hurl abuse at the top of your voice at other members. It's not nice. Otherwise, good point. The phone was originally aimed at business users. What it really lacks are business applications...
Guest AvWijk Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Bring us the original Grand Theft Auto for the Smartphone! :D GTA London shouldnt also be a problem :P this is an hint voor Roozbeh!!! And what do you think about bluetooth multiplayer options in GTA for Smartphone....., when my friend has an SPV c500 and I have a Motorola MPx220.. aaaaah! *Drools*
Guest gravity Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 While GTA is freeware it isn't open source(as far as I know), and I think roozbeh is finally at a point where he can do more for the community by coding his own games designed to make efficent use of the power the smartphone platform has. You can only do so much with ports but with his coding skills, he should have eclipse eclipse'd in no time.
Guest midnight Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 gravity, it doesnt ship with gapidraw, it does ship with GAPI however, but gapi is used for all graphic functions on the phone, not just games :P in a way he's quite correct, the operating system as it stands isnt designed specifically for playing games, but soon will come D3DM, and also, hardware isnt exactly suited for games either (4 way on the e200, even worse on the C500), it is designed as a business device, and if you complain to Orange about the C500 joystick they will say the same i'm afraid (i know, i've had a go at em for it :D) Anyhoo, good luck to roozbeh on eclipsing eclipse, cos its only code that makes a game isnt it???
Guest dodding nonkey Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Is this dawg barking mad or what? Hey, I enjoy games, but if you want a mobile games console sonny, buy yerself a gameboy or something. If the guys who spend their time writing software for games devoted their efforts to writing productive software (like an excel editor/emulator) we would have a far more popular (and therefore commercially attractive) tool. Attract the BIG money and the games will appear. Personal opinion only you understand, I like the exclusivity of a smartphone, but we need to get the big money and professional interests onside to make real progress. Developers please don't take this the wrong way, you guys do a great job, I take my hat off to y'all, but you have to agree, popularity breeds software.
Guest jayjaybee Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 to be fair, the new Arena game for ngage looks tasty.. Opps...have i just committed a cardinal sin on this forum?! sorry...im quite new! Anyway, im simply blown away by the fact i can play wolfenstein on my smartphone. And the speed of that new GG emulator is awesome and makes retrogaming a bit more viable for me. Sorry guys, as fab as Smartnes and Picodrive are, i find both a little too slow and glitchy on my e100! Never mind tho, as that c500 will be MINE......come novemeber! :S
