Guest Pondrew Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Well, something had to make up for the smaller screen and increased size of the 'phone. Guess that's it (don't get me wrong, sounds excellent).
Guest haso0on Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 its going to be my next phone hopefully!!
Guest AvWijk Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 hey u guys check this out.... the phone has a 262K color displayhttp://www.motorola.com/mdirect/hellomoto/...ull_specs.shtml? And a 65k external screen! :P
Guest Connor00 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Yo, any news on the release date the registration form on the moto site says they'll get back to you in 2-4 weeks...wonder if thats a hint of release date?
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 27th September has been rumoured.
Guest Anonymous Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Ahhh really thats so long...its really mean of them to do this to people lol...I want it so bad.... is the c500 out now...id think motorola would want to get theirs out around the same time to control portions of the market.
Guest kyrkesmith Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 As far as I know, the C500 isn't out yet, although I'd guess it would be marginally before the MPx220.
Guest haso0on Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 And a 65k external screen! :P i cant seem to find where it say 65K external screen.....
Guest V Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Was in Auchan last night (France's answer to Tesco extra) looking for a car charger when i notticed that on the packaging of the Motorola car charger it says that it is compatible with the MPx220 and the MPx. No mention of the MPx100 however, so i guess it really has died a premature death!
Guest MadSci Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Great Review! Thanks for posting us on this. Looks like a nice phone. Might even replace my MPx200 One question though, tmy MPx200 has been adisappointment in one aspect that is crucial to a lot of "business" users. Namely, when you sync up a large contact list from Outlook, the phone just can't handle it properly. All the functions related to the Contacts are either so slow as to be clunky, or just non-functional. My 2200 Contacts have left me with a phone that has almost no Caller ID capability since either I or the Voicemail pick up the call LONG before the phone gets through looking up the number in the Contacts database. This means no distinct ringtones for Contacts, and none of the "Picture" Caller ID apps work either. It also makes using the MUTE and FLASH buttons hit and miss. Hell sometimes you can't even pick up a call until it's too late. I don't excuse Motorolla, ATT or anyone else for this. The phone is marketed to sync with Outlook Contacts, and no mention is ever made about this 'disabled' outcome when your Contact list is large. Hello Moto, some of your customers are over 25 and have decades of Contacts in our databases! Obviously there is no point in my buying Motorolla's next Smartphone unless this has been resolved. Is anyone aware of any tests regarding the phone's performance with a large Contacts list? Thanks again! MadSci
Guest stephen.gazard Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I am torn between the MPX 220 and the Nokia 6260. I currently have a SE P900 and am tempted by going to full Windows PPC to gain better Outlook sync - but .... I spend a great deal of time in the car and the Nokia seems to releasing a full car kit for the phone, bluetooth and hardwired...... I can't see any info on MPX 220 having anything other than bluetooth and I prefer hard wired .... anyone any thoughts .....
Guest madmaxedcn Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 1 question what is that batery and backup batt about?
Guest MPXtricky Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 I have 2nd row tickets to see Lee Evans. Woohoo! Que?
Guest Anonymous Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Arrg why isnt it out yet...september 27th is Just wrong...The registration auto email response says they'll get back to you in 2-4 weeks,,,thats obviously crap

Guest haso0on Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 and the 1st Smartphone to have a 262K color screen
Guest AvWijk Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 i cant seem to find where it say 65K external screen..... Here you go: http://www.motorola.com/mediacenter/news/d...3844_23,00.html For anyone interessted that is has a 65k screen. The announcement says 56k screen, but that looks like a type mistake! And, ieeuw what have they done to the lay-out :P Orange sucks really in my area!
Guest madmaxedcn Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 if im not crazy why does it say main batery high 95% and backup battery 100%?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Backup battery to keep your settings, time, when you remove the main battery. Haso0on: afaik its a 65k screen?
Guest badboy4life Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 The motorola site does say 262k - i hope it is!! Source: Here under 'Technical Specifications'? • Display: 2.0" 176 x 220, 262K color TFT
Guest duncan888 Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 great review kl1wdr, can you tell us what happens when u miss a call or recieve a sms, does the second screen show a miss call and stay on the screen, not switching to the screensaver. Thanks
Guest oh_stewie Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 It seems stupid to me that motorola would implement mini SD when so many of us already have the mpx200. Why wouldn't they accomodate for those who already use their product and would like to upgrade to the mpx220 without the extra hassle and expense of buying another card.
Guest flashflash Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 The Mini SD card i can understand, smaller and consumes less power, however the removal of the mini USB is a disgrace.. whats that about!!
Guest Coolbox Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 How ist the joystick??? is it only 5 points og is it 9 like the spv classic?
Guest zensbikeshop Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I received my 220 today and the external screen can be used as a camera viewfinder when the clam is closed. Works well.
