There is no change to the IME icon (input method), ClearType does not affect battery life in anyway (or speed noticeably), and there should be no issues restoring a Sprite backup after updating.

just found that i had to reset the phone. now the IME icon is back

installed it ok, tried using my BT headset, jabra 200 and cant notice any significant improvement, will see what happens over the next few days

M3000 seemed to work fine for me on the pre-release versions of the update!

While you're updating, maybe it's a good opportunity for people to do a full-charge-hard-reset as discussed elsewhere on the forum :P

have u noticed that on the orange website it instructs you to have the phone fully charged before upgrading. i think they may have found out about the charge and hard reset trick too

Can someone list the benefits of bothering to upgrade?

- voice quality? is it louder? any more bass?

- improved battery life (i get 3 days as it is)

- IA album? anything new?

- IA cam? any better?

- is bluetooth any clearer?

If so, was it easy, or is there a load of messing about to get it to update?

Downloaded update. Battery was fully charged and phone is connected to pc via usb. Ran update, said about upgrading from rom 2.6.? to 2.7.? clicked next.....

PC says "checking the information on your SPV E200....please wait..." phone has a three colour screen red, green and blue, with Smart phone v1.06 doc, but the phone has been sitting like it for an hour or so??

Well update is installed, and so far I haven't noticed a single difference apart from Cleartype ebing turned off by default which looks crap, having said that I haven't done much with it yet. Voice quality sounds about the same to me, maybe a tiny bit louder, they still have the redial bug though (if you ring the number again as soon as you hang up it's really bassy and distorted). Also the bottom row of white pixels still exist, I don't think Orange / HTC / MS are capable of getting anything right.

I had exactly the same experience. First time that an update hasn't gone smoothly. Still, worked out fine in the end.

Does any one want to a buy a 2 week old E200 that just doesnt want to work on O2 properly? Having applied the update it still hangs when recieving messages.

I got a replacement E200 from Orange at 9.30pm today and it has this ROM already installed on it.

I had to install this update that Windows Longhorn Skin was slowing my phone down so much and it would not remove. All is working fine now though. Total update took 8 minutes.

i have the old rom update, was wonderin if anyone could post message me were i could get the imate version. was waitin 4 this , but accordin to simon and co nothins changed.

nedge you have yours on o2 dont ya,could ya help us out with rom and settings u are usin, if there any different to the ones i posted which are workin 4 me on the old orange rom.

I'm looking forward to this update. I'm effin sick of my phone locking up and losing the SD card. I really hope it's an improvement :?

I'm at work now, with USB cradle but no mains supply. Do I really need to have the E200 on mains whilst installing the update?

Spose I could wait til I get home :cry:

The e200 charges itself when in the USB cradle through USB, it doesn't need the mains adaptor plugged in.

Anyone had any issues with GPRS automatically disconecting post update? I can only seem to get the idle disconect down to 15 minutes. Is everyone's phone having this problem?
