Guest Blakey Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 I have the Sandisk 512MB card - no idea if it's multilayered or not. I had lock up troubles before upgrade. None since (only 2 days mind you). I doubt that helps but there you go. :-) Blakey
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Thanks anyway but it doesn't really help as you presumed. If you could write to the card beforehand then your card didn't ever suffer the problem so nothing's been fixed. It really needs someone to test it on a card that didn't work before. Anyone???
Guest dreamweavel Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Dont want to hijack this but how do you add words to a T9 dictionary? I didn't even know there was such a thing! :-) Blakey If you type in ABC mode in messenger or sms, anything you type gets added to the mst9.udb in the system folder e.g. 2day, b4 etc. There's a few apps posted here in the forums that even let you edit them from your PC. I use gothi's T9 editor - really useful for removing rubbish you accidentaly add when you mis-type something as it will automatically get added :? So after you've added the word, go back to T9 mode and your phone "knows" the word now. So you spend ages building a list of abbrev's, names etc and then zap! they all disappear sometimes. If you use the T9 editor app after it's happened you'll see its empty. You're snookered if you haven't backed it up and have to add them all again. There's a few forums that discuss this - try this topic It's still a problem... :P
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 My SD card has been working for 3 hours non stop with the new rom and no crashing. Looks like its fixed now :P
Guest Johnbe Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Updated from 2.6.1.3 to 2.7.1.1 last night - battery still gets drained when I pop in my cheapo 128mb card. Must say I'm less than impressed; this update hasn't addressed the things I wanted fixing (mostly, alter the way the t9 works, or rather doesn't work, to make it worth the effort). Such a big shame as I want to be able to recommend this phone as a viable alternative to the blackberry, but I just can't do it. I doubt Orange will get my business again. This farce has gone on for much too long.
Guest serialkillazzs Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 ive had my own 128mb kodak mmc card and brothers lexar 256mb sd card in mine and battery is perfect. got a so called movie about a cat on my phone at min and battery has hardly dropped much at all, happy days beta player rocks and nes nes emulator
Guest Baker0 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Hello Ive updated last night and ever since then i cant get on messenger:( Any one been able to? Cheers Baker0
Guest Baker0 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 found another problem, try this one: Dial 150 for customer support and try pressing any numbers you cant get in to any menu. This could be down to orange call center not working Cheers Baker0
Guest serialkillazzs Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 try the world of o2,everythin workin on mine even messenger, mine u never had any problem with my e200 bein unlocked to o2 before, must be same old orange
Guest Blakey Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 To those people with M3000 headsets - when you say the new ROM has fixed your headset, what does that mean? Can you now use it to do voice dialing? Or is that not supported on the E200? Basically I'm about to buy a BT headset and have no idea which one to get! ;-) Blakey
Guest ajb3000 Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Voice dialing is not supported by the E200. Basically when using the M3000 it used to cut out a couple of minutes into the call, however this now seems to be fixed.
Guest Vector Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Well, since installing update, at 10:30pm Monday, i have left my phone on the whole time, just made a few texts and calls, and i still have 37% of my battery left, so my battery has improved :P
Guest Johnbe Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Just put mine back on charge now, despite it being sans memory card since it was last charged Tuesday night ready for Wednesday morning :/ If anything I think 2.7.1.1 is worse with battery than 2.6.1.3 was - although I'm clearly in a minority. Of 1
Guest Pondrew Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Johnbe, I think the full charge before update was essential. Did you do it?
Guest Johnbe Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Yes. And did a "clear storage" before I started using it again. I'm well un-chuffed.
Guest zerosignull Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 my battery seems to drain a lot faster with this new update installed on it.
Guest Vector Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 mine certainly hasn't, it's now been on since monday night 10:30pm, and i still have 16% left :P Did you run the update with the phone at full charge?
Guest Johnbe Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 Yes, fully charged. Even waited an hour to apply the upgrade till the phone was at maximum charge.
Guest beersoft Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 hmm, that doesn't sound good (in the batterylife department) i went on a 10 hour drive (yes im now sleepy) with my phone/mapopoplis/bt gps all connected and running, and the phone with BT on all the way, and its only just decided that it wants a charge. you could have a duff battery, i would try doing a long charge using the mains cable for a few nights to see if that improves it later Owen
Guest Johnbe Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 well, it worked a lot better on 2.6.1.3 - could manage almost 2 days in total with no SD card and bluetooth off. Now I can't go a day and a half without having to charge it. could be a duff battery. Could be a duff manufacturer/supplier/provider. Could be my own idiocy with buying an Orange device. I'm not sure who's most culpable in the whole shebang.
Guest serialkillazzs Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 any phone shop will recommended u charge a new battery for 16 hrs, if u.ve had one a few months drain it and leave it on charge for 16hrs. ive done that on mine every few weeks and my e200 battery is still fine even with the new and old update. had my e200 for a few months now. on my secound charge still at 19% now, 4 and a half days on two charges with frequent use.
Guest Johnbe Posted August 15, 2004 Report Posted August 15, 2004 Well, I've had this phone for about 4-5 months, and when I first got it, it was virtually flat at the end of every evening. Its had a full charge every day for around 2 months, until I put 2.6.1.3 on it and it could actually go for about 2.5 days. I'd say I get 36 hours charge from 2.7.
Guest dombates Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 The only improvement I've noticed since the update is louder call volume which is great. However, the Windows Media Player bug which causes it to jump to the next track mid track still occurs regularly and I'm also starting to suspect the battery life has been curtailed post-update. I'm not as happy with this update as the last. Only 7 months til I get a free upgrade to the next hunk of plastic...
Guest Johnbe Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I never had any qualms with the volume on my handset. T9 always has sucked, and txting is the one thing I do most. I like the OMA/Exchange server stuff, cool to be able to send & receive mail from my exchange box, but the incredibly annoying battery life coupled with all the text issues (plus a new one that I'd not seen before, randomly adding double characters into your typing) makes me a very dissatisfied customer.
