Lived in UK 10 mnth; How to get Orange C500 contract?

Hi all,

Well I just realised I’ve got a bit of a conundrum if I want to pick up a C500 that my local orange shop have on hold for me. To give you the low down. I currently work for a specialist engineering company and will be on a sponsored soon so I will be living in the UK for at least another 2 years. I have a good income etc. But basically because of the way that Orange do credit checks, I might get shafted.

I’ve been told that the credit checking company Orange uses employs two methods. One method is to do a mobile phone credit check (or something like that) on your place of residence for the last 3 years (I’ve only been here 10 months!) or the other is to do a straight out credit check on your finances (I’ve been told by Orange that this is a bit touch and go even with an okay salary, correct?).

Is it at all possible to pay for the whole contract up front? I am happy to do this but is it too much of a risk if problems occur?

Is it possible to buy the handset outright at the moment and for how much?

The other option is that I could lie about the time that I’ve been living in my residence and just say that I’ve been living there for 3 years. I’ve heard of this being done before but I’m not a big fan of lying (it can come back and hurt you) and is fairly risky (maybe the person in the residence before you may have a bad credit rating, maybe it is obvious you a different person to the last resident).

So help! How can I make certain I pick up the C500 on an Orange contract tonight?

Cheers,

Matx

I've got a bloody awful credit rating but i always get mobile phones with no deposit and international options turned on, TBH i'd be surprised if you didn't get it if you show you've had a steady income this year so far.

I got it! It was a bit touch and go though. They didnt allow a deposit at this store though so I had to get a credit check done.

Thanks for the comments.
