Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 We are now testing a new system that allows you to receive MoDaCo news alerts using the MSN alerts system via either MSN Messenger or E-Mail! To sign up, click the button below... feedback during this testing period is appreciated :) P http://www.messagecast.net/alerts/login.do?PINID=1564&returnURL=http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com>
Guest Vector Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 sounds good, i'm signing up :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest beersoft Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 this looks like it can help me keep my modaco fix going where ever i am :) later Owen
Guest blewer Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Going on holiday on Tuesday, so this is good for me :)
Guest st3ph3n Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Great work Paul. It's one feature of MSN that is completely underused in my opinion. Pushing alerts is so much better than the equivalent of pulling RSS feeds every X minutes to keep yourself updated with (insert your chosen subject here).
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 The new LiveMessage alerts service is great... just about anyone can set up an alerts feed for free that consumes an XML RSS feed. I've already signed up with the NeoWin.net one too, and am definitely going to add the alert feature to my Blog (when I get round to getting it online!) :) P
Guest Will Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 signed up,is this just new news stories that will be pushed?
Guest beersoft Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 this service rocks, and yes i have done some bandwagon jumping :) later Owen
Guest deepak Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 very nice of u guys to try coming more closer...i have a great idea but need to chat in confidentiality with admin guys here...now lets see the response
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 There is an option to receive via Mobile Device. What is that exactly? I dont see any options in Passport to define my Mobile Device or phone number...so is this just a MSN member thing?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Well, News....and their replies apparently.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Only alerts of new News topics... P
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I may be getting confused between the Modaco response alert email and the MSN one...but I did receive at least one after the initial posting....I'm not sure. I'll have to pay closer attention
Guest nickcornaglia Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 I edited my response just now...I'm probably wrong.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 LOL, I think you are getting confused, as it's technically impossible to be alerting for each post! ;-) P
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 22, 2004 Report Posted August 22, 2004 Nearly 100 signups already, not bad going at all! P
Guest deadlight Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Eek! O2 wanna charge me 20p per message! '5-10 messages per day' the signp page says! Nice idea, but too expensive for me I'm afraid!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Well, use the MSN Messenger or E-Mail option instead (which was the main idea!) P
Guest deadlight Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Hmmm...do I have to use the hotmail inbox, or can I specify another POP3 one? I'd use Messenger, but we're not allowed to have it running in the office :-(
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 The e-mail address of your Passport is used, and you can sign up with a passport for any address... so the alerts can go anywhere :) P
Guest deadlight Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Aha! Nice one Paul, I'd forgotten that!
