Guest nedge2k Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 No one else has had them in at ANY price - it's easy to advertise something for thrupence if you don't have it in stock. AFAIK Moby are the only people to have actually suplied 1Gb cards. I know the company that supply Moby and they are willing to sell to the Uk for £70 plus postage. As and when this will happen is another matter...they need to get someone who can distribute in the UK for them as direct shipping from Korea is not an option. It would be like going to the HTC and asking them to sell you 1 Typhoon. They're sending me a card to review and as soon as i've done that im gonna try and hellp them find a UK distributor...maybe even MoDaCo shop...but i'll need to speak to Paul about that one ;)
Guest simonbratt99 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 why the h*** dont they just make a load and er sell em, theres big demand, and were all waiting anyway and not buying the 512 cards. There FOOLIOS!!! ALL OF EM... oh does anyone have any idea what the c550 will take, mem wise?

Wholesale prices are always a LOT cheaper than ythe end user pays.
Guest herbspv Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Hi I am looking at buying a 1GB Mini SD card for my C500. Want to be spending no more then £50/60, for this price the only two makes I can find are Sandisk and ATP. Has any one got these working on there C500? Which is best… reliability/speed?? Or are they all about the same? Thanks Chris
Guest Confucious Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 You can find two differnt makes? That are actually in stock? Where?
Guest herbspv Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 On eBay there are a few American sellers selling Sandisk 1GB Mini SD, 4 to 9 days delivery to UK they say, have a 5 year warranty but don’t want to be sending back to America if I have problems with it or are they usually ok? The ATP cards weren’t in stock though!!!

How many times have we seen sites advertising and taking orders for cheap MiniSDs only to find they never actually receive stock? Usually they don't have an exact date (just "coming soon" or similar) so hopefully they will get them in. Good luck and let us know if you actually receive it. Edited May 16, 2005 by Confucious
Guest lekus Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 (edited) I just bought a 1GB MiniSD off EBay for £49.97 via one of the USA sellers (price inclusive of UK shipping and insurance) Not sure if we can post links to EBay or not, but just search for "1gb minisd" and you should find a few USA sellers as herbspv pointed out above. The seller I bought from registered in 2003 and is a powerseller with over 2000 feedback, so I'm pretty sure it's legit. The auction also stated "NO VAT OR CUSTOMS DUTIES - 100% REFUND IF PAID!" although whether the seller would honour this should I get hit with customs charges I don't know. 4-8 days shipping on the card. I'll post back if and when I recieve the card though ;) Certainly beats waiting on the card I'd ordered from expansys, which now seems to have had it's price changed to "Not announced" (previously it said £46.77 ex vat and shipping) http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=118583 Edited May 16, 2005 by lekus

Doubly glad, since I had that Expansys card (and adaptor) on pre-order too.
Guest herbspv Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 Yeh I just checked the expansys web site and no price now! I rang them last week and they said had just got them in at there warehouse abroad, and told me should take bout 3 days to ship over here so if that’s correct they should have them in stock sometime this week! I did ask earlier though if anyone knew any thing about mini SD memory cards on reliability and speeds but no one has come back to me!... I want to be buying the best!! From what I’ve read on other forums and the internet Sandisk seem to by the big guns in the SD market, so would have thought them to be good having a big name behind them, but they use MLC (Multi Level Cell), which doesn’t seem to be as good as SLC (Single Level Cell). I’ve also read that all ATP cards use SLC, so that must make them better?? SLC is faster and lasts a lot longer. Saying that most seem to come with a 5 year warranty and I cant see me using it in 5 years time! Phones by that time will hopefully have 1GB memory in!!! Above is just mainly stuff I’ve read about so don’t take my word on it! But if you don’t know anything about SLC and MLC here is a good FAQ page on them!..... http://www.memorynet.co.uk/info/faq-single...evel-cell.shtml
Guest Confucious Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 SLC may be quicker than MLC but in a phone I don't think this is a limiting factor. It might make a difference for photography when you are trying to get large images written as quickly as possible but not, I believe, on a phone and as for the length of time they last you've already noticed the flaw in that argument for buying SLC ;) I really don't think it makes a lot of difference on speed, so long as the card works. Some people have reported problems with Kingston cards but I'm not convinced the problem is with the cards. 1Gb cards are so new there are no reports yet either favourable or otherwise, in fact Mobymemory seem to be the only ones supplying them so far and I've heard nothing bad about them (except, of course, the price) Sandisk are a well known make and I've been using there cards for years but I believe with the E200 there was a problem with multi layer cards and I think the Sandisk ones were multi layer - I have no idea if this applies to Mini-SDs and / or the C500 - Hopefully someone else will be able to elucidate us. HTH

Guest Mr.Clark Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 My eBay SanDisk one has arrived and is working... I've sent an email to Expansys asking to cancel my order (paranoia, I didn't do it until after the ebay one arrived) but no response yet.
Guest bocsta Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Hi, I rang ATP in the UK and they have no firm dates for the 1gb Mini SD. The rep said they had asked Expansys to remove the product from their UK site. However it still exists on the Hong King site http://www.expansys.com.hk/product.asp?code=118583 Anyone found a Teravit card or got an extra in the group buy that they wish to sell ? These are high speed 60x SLC not MLC like Sandisk
Guest Confucious Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 These are high speed 60x SLC not MLC like Sandisk And what difference do you think that will make?
Guest tony_man Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I just bought a Sandisk 512Mb for GBP 36.75 inc P&P http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=121594 IS that a bargain?
