Best options for using my MPX200 (from ATTWS) in India

I believe I have to get it SIM unlocked to be able to use it with GSM providers in India. The site http://www.imei-check.co.uk/mpx200unlock.php has good reviews but the problem is that I currently am in US and do not have "SIM from disallowed provider". The only SIM I have currently is from ATTWS my provider. So if I borrow a SIM from some one who has TMOBILE and then do the unlocking process then will the phone be unlocked for just TMOBILE or will it be unlocked for ANY PROVIDER so I could use it with a GSM provider of my choice in INDIA?

Thanks!

Once ht ephone is SIM un;ocked it will work on all networks.

One thing you need to find out is, if the operator in India uses

the 900Mhz band, if so then the AT&T MPX200 may not work as

only a few canuse this band.

The AT&T MPX200 is only Dual-band where as the Orange

MPX200 is Tri-band.

If you are an ATT customer, check their web site to see if India access is supported under their world discount offer. I forget the name they give it, but essentailly for $5US/month you get a reduced flat rate/minute for all calls, local and to the US.

Worked great for me in Austria a few months ago.

Of course if you're moving to India and want to use the phone for an extended time, then HOORAY!!! You get to drop ATTWS you lucky sod!

Thanks MadSci. I checked AT&T's site http://www.attwireless.com/international/t...ls.jsp?CIDL=356 and their listed rates 2.29USD.

I got my phone unlocked from http://www.imei-check.co.uk/mpx200unlock.php yesterday and I have to say these guys are very prompt at service. Got the unlock code within a minute of payment. I verified that the phone now works with TMOBILE sim. I will try to get a prepaid sim in India. The prepaid option will be much cheaper than using AT&T's international WorldConnect service.
