Well, had it a week now, and wow great phone. Apart from little bugs and that i think its nearly perfect. Have a 256Mb card from the MoDaCo shop installed. (Used to have the e100)

1. Great black and silver styling

2. Size is just right, and the screen cant be much better

3. Cant find anything to slow it down, (even with links golf and pocket streets)

4. battery lasts well

5. Massive storage (well when the 1gb cards come out)

I dont really play fast moving games on the phone, so the 'shuffle pad' is no problem

Games installed so far...

1. chess (free, www.valil.com/chess)

2. links golf (just like the pc version)

3. smartello (flickers a little)

4. Exbubble (bubble bobble)

5. SPV invaders

6. SPV man (pak man)

7. WinMine (mine sweeper_

8. Full hand Casino

Also 10 movie trailers to show off the pocketTV

Only thing im slightly worried about is the life of the keys, one or two stick a little already.

I think this one will be a classic.

Lets face it the E100 was a little big but we accepted that.

Feel free to add comments, what have you got on yours?

Simon

Love the C500 to bits. My only gripe was no in-built support for Video MMS, but I have figured out a work around for that. I think my only true gripe with it is the dust issue, but annoying as it is, it doesnt stop me using the phone, and everything else is fantastic.

C500? Big up yourself.

1. Yeah, looks good

2. Ditto (my screen seems to flicker somtimes, but not enough to put me off)

3. "Slow" when first loading the menus, but faster than the Ex00 and very usable

4. FANTASTIC battery life, never thought I'd say that about an HTC phone!

5. 256 for me ATM, waiting for 1Gb (hopefully November?)

Games

1. Gold mine

2. Minigolf

3. Blackjack (have to use the number keys or you get "double click" effect )

4. Poker (have to use the number keys or you get "double click" effect )

5. Smartello flickers too much to play it (anyone want my copy? i've unistalled it)

Sadly the only movies I've managed to find so far are, er... "adult" orientated

I love it (the phone), but my mate has already had his first replacement. Maybe there is still an element of the old "HTC lottery"

The more I use it, the more I love it..

Right now, I'm in a conference call to the states, been going for 2hours 6 mins (on speakerphone), and the battery level is still showing 2 bars, and I haven't charged it for over a day.. this is truly a good phone..

one tiny thing, which I found with using the speakerphone, I am calling a conference centre, and have to enter a passcode, but for some reason on speakerphone, pressing '0' seemed to rbe egistering as pressing it twice by the conference centre's system.. I had to switch the speakerphone off to enter the correct passcode..

I just love the way you can customise everything.. alright there are some features that can be improved, but for example, I wanted it to vibrate, and ring at the same time in the normal profile.. setting this up was childsplay....

love the feel of it.. love the look of it

i got a 512mb mini sd in mine

the battery life on it is amazing compared to the e200 even after listening to mp3's all the way home (about an hour) and then left on all night and back to work listening to music and the bar only moved down one 8)

Nice to see a thread with only nice things (well, nearly) about the C500. Just finished my 1st week with the lil' Black Beauty , and I'm still finding new things to be impressed about. I'm about to sell my Ipaq 2210 as I can't think of a valid reason to keep it anymore. Megadrive games? Full speed? On a phone? Good God.

Controllers crap though java script:emoticon(':)')

java script:emoticon(':)')

Well I have only had my phone since Friday. However, I nearly cancelled my order as I was very unsure/sceptical about the whole spv thing.

So far i'm delighted with it.

One thing I noticed this morning was that a) the alarm woke me up fine and :) when the screen came on it lit up the whole room. Infact as a torch, I'd say the screen is as good as my Petzl Tikka head torch!

Just a quick question: can I use MSN Messenger for free through bluetooth to my PC (and on to the Internet) or do I have to use GPRS/WAP?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Only had my C500 since Friday, have to say so far so good. I did get a screen cover on mine (ordered from orange website) which I will leave on for as long as poss. Have not had much time to have a real play, but have been trying to read as much as I can from this forum. It seems it will do everything I want it to do, I just have to figure out, how to make it do it!!! So all keep posting, your help is very much appreciated!

Have to admit, having had the C500 for a couple of weeks now, it really is a vast improvement on the e200. Battery life is worth the upgrade fee alone! Can't say I'm comfortable with the action key/joystick. It just feels too clumpy, and more often than not it's hard to tell if you have actually clicked it. The only problem I have had has been with homescreens. Some of the e200 screens have frozen the C500 requiring a battery pull, but the same thing happened alot with my e200, so I think it's probably just a result of overloading the homescreen with plugins & icons.

The gapi issue hasn't really affected me. I'm not much of a gamer, and as long as links & lemonade tycoon work (which they do) I'm happy! The only game so far I miss is boxy, which is too flickery to use.

GREAT phone but with 2 BIG flaws, Blue tooth simply doesnt work to any other make of handset and the mp3 playback has a "tss" sound every 14 secs. Other than that no other phone even comes close to its capabilities. well ive manged to figure out why i couldnt get blutooth working, under settings, beam, select accept incoming beams!

Great little phone, had mine a fortnight now & i'm seriously impressed. Never thought i could rip a dvd to fit on my phone, i've been showing anyone who'd look

Got a 256mb card in with a copy of i robot (from my original dvd by the way) & a few games, but i'm still checking them out.

Games: -

Tennis Addict

Worms World Party (good fun)

Pong

Tetris

Bluetooth file transfer caused some problems initially, but SmartExplorer has sorted that right out.

Big up the C500

@ Xethmir

Yes you can use MSN if you change your connections settings to passthrough (im assuming your pc is connected)

I too adore my c500, sold my K700 and im delighted to say i wont trade it for another phone. There is still room for improvement, better bluetooth implementation and a higher res screen (small fonts looks grainy esp in pocket ie)

I've had my SMT 5600 over a month now and I still think it's the greatest gadget ever. My boss gives me "The look" whenever I reach for it. lol. He knows I won't be paying attention to anything once I grab it.

I think that the direction pad sucks. That is my only gripe. The benefits of this phone make that trivial though. IF and when a newer version comes out with a better directional, and the keypress issue resolved, I'll happily upgrade.

Best phone ever, IMO. Hopefully it gets even better soon.
