Guest craigp Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Jason, Thanks for the more detailed explanation ^_^ I like the idea of the Continious Looping sound and yes, I am sure I could implement something tlike this very quickly. Infact, I might just do that. Jason I would be SOOOOoooo grateful! (and obviously would pay for a solution) Craig
Guest jasonh Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Some photos of the current release Beta 2 SMSNotify V2 HTML based template, This can be customized however you want and only the information you want can be displayed.
Guest jasonh Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Jason, Thanks for the more detailed explanation ^_^ I would be SOOOOoooo grateful! (and obviously would pay for a solution) Craig Well all you would have to do is purchase SMSNotify :D It would not take me long at all to do what you have requested and would be distributed as a free add on to the main application. Ill make sure I have this done at the same time I launch Version 2.0. Maybe you could suggest offline or maybe a pm what you would like it to do exactly. Just pop up a dialog that keeps playing the assigned tone until a button is pressed ?
Guest craigp Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Hi Jason, I will glady buy SMSNotify if you do this add-on ^_^ Your suggestion of looping the sound until a keypress is detected in the dialog sounds great. Just out of curiouristy how would it cope with multiple SMSs? Would you for instance play multiple SMS tones simultaneously? It would be ideal if only one dialog was displayed (and one looped sound) irrespective of how many 'unread' SMSs had been received. This way you could stop all the noise in a single keypress. I imagine this might make things more complicated but don't be put off from doing the addon as long as it still works fine for a single SMS. For 99% of the time I would only receive a single SMS at a time hence not a big problem. Thanks again for investigating this further! Craig
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Jason The screenshots look great, and the new features + the add-ons is enough to get my business It's great that as a developer you are listenting to what the customers want. More power to you! There is one thing that I'd really like, and I don't know how you might go about it... There's a bit of software for Symbian phones called PhoneSecure (http://www.wildpalm.co.uk/PhoneSecure.html) which lets you lock your phone, send your IMEI number and so on if your phone gets nicked. It requires reading the SMS, rather than just knowing that there is an SMS, so that you can perform specific actions. If you could do something like that I would pay extra for it!
Guest jasonh Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Thanks for the feedback. The PhoneLock is a good idea, and complety feasable. I would have to look into the smartphone documentation to see if there is anyway to programaticaly lock the device, or if any other alternatives would be possible. Maybe even a make call to a pre defined number so if required a trace could be made back to the area where it was originated. Ill look into it. It wont make the V2 release immediately, but since I have allowed "plugins" or sorts to be added, an small exe file containing this functionality could be distributed easily at a later date...
Guest jasonh Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 And just a quick rundown on the plugins. any registered custom apps get executed on immediate retrieval of a sms message, no matter if it is read or not. When a sms message come in, the senders number and message is stored (overwritten on next retrieval of a sms message though) but the plugins can then decide on how to act based on the message text and senders number.
