Guest rctempire Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 I got my phone 2 days ago and nope seems fine to me at the moment, but the thing is can you actually open the phone to get into the screen to take the dust out. Like take the cover off, is there any way of doing that yet?
Guest nsp24 Posted September 18, 2004 Report Posted September 18, 2004 I thought my C500 was dust free but when the back light is off I can see loads of dust top left. I is quite noticable if you view the screen on a angle. Have they modified the phone at all to stop the problems on new models?

Guest adiohead Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Mines dust free after two weeks. I keep it in my left pocket and seperate from my wallet and keys. It's difficult being left handed because I keep wanting to put the keys in the left pocket and have to swap them to my right!!!!!! I want a case but refuse to buy leather.
Guest peekie Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Now on my second C500 as the dust problem was far too big to put up with ,even using the vac , which works but is a joke on a daily basis. biggest problem as orange nl told me as they checked a few phones to see what type of dust was getting in , the dust is cotton which 100% comes from you putting it in your trouser pocket to protect the phone from the dust . cotton dust is finer than the dust you get in say a room . i keep my phone now in a nylon pocket and so far the phone is free from dust and with the krussel case on the way i hope it stays that way :wink: :wink: :wink:

After 2 days it's got a pretty bad dust problem and it's only been in my pocket! Ironically the 1st one I had didn't get any kind of dust in it after almost a week..... Anyway phone O and after reading most of the posts here I just told them that the replacment had a dead pixel (thats what that large speck of dust looks like to me, honest ^_^ ) and they're sending a replacment tonight. If this one get's it then I'll probably end up putting up with it as the phone is pretty good apart from suspect build quality.

Had C500 for a few weeks now and have kept it in a cover since the day I bought it (see my post under 'phone cover'). Also wear it on my belt (not enough room in MY trousers for a telephone! ^_^

Guest Rhinestone Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I have had my C500 for about two weeks now. It is my second one as the first was replaced due to a dead pixel. I have been reading this thread with intrest / concern. It mentions the dust is more visible when the screen is turned off but I have thoroughly checked mine and at present, the screen is clear. Its a pain in the butt having to scrutinise the seams of my pockets for lint and the like. I have not got a case for mine yet so I might bung mine into one of those drawstring bags that get supplied with Oakley sunglasses and the like.

NO sign of dust under the screen. Maybe I've just been lucky. Or maybe the build quality has improved?

I've had to order myself the Krussel leather case, despite the fact that I don't ever buy leather :cry: :cry: Nearly saw myself ordering a bluetooth headset but then came to my senses and realised I should check my bank balance first :roll:
