Guest kennyg Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Beta 9.... I've just uploaded another update. Changes include: - Re-written data access layer (for alarm data). Fixes a lot of memory leaks! - Vibrate bug after alarm running out fixed. - Better world clock integration, screen to allow you to change location and world time location, press action from world time screen. Note: alfter install, start the UI, required to re-establish alarms. Previous versions required you change one of the alarms to get the UI to update the alarm status. Any questions, just ask, if there are improvements or I made it worse, please let me know either way. If you could send me a PM or an email (kennyg AT purelymobile DOT com), I'd like to know if it is working for you as well and your device and it's primary language. Links again are as follows: http://www.codecity.net/files/smartphone/C...larmsSp.ARM.CAB http://www.codecity.net/files/smartphone/C...imeAlarmsSp.exe Note: OXIOS todo list is causing many of the problems with setting the alarms you've read about. If you have it installed, be aware of this! Thanks! Kenny.
Guest removed-2 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 kennyg, Just for your information, both Beta8 and Beta9 have worked fine on my C500. Nice work ! Mark
Guest fozzie Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Beta 9 working fine on my C500 (pre ROM upgrade) ^_^
Guest nikjensie Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 Have been using this since it was released. Great job Kenny! A terrific interface and a great app all together. Just a small question... Would it be hard to have it play an MP3 as sound? Best Regards Nik
Guest fozzie Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Alarms still working fine Kenny. ^_^ The one thing I'd really like to see is a confirmation 'Are you sure' type dialogue box for alarm 'Dismiss' and 'Dismiss Early'. I'm sure that one day I'm going to accidentally dismiss either the wrong alarm or dismiss instead of snooze.
Guest jeffrey2 Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Seems to work fine on my i-mate Smartpone2. Questions & suggestions. 1. I have to add shortcut to CityAlarm into startup folder or I'll miss alarms after turn off/turn on. Right? Not very convinient to have CityAlarm in memory all time. I guess it will be better to make some tiny daemon instead of main application for this purpose. Just suggestion. 2. Alarms can not be dismissed by one keypress if the phone is locked. Not convinient for me. There's "Dismiss" button that I press But it doesn't dismiss :-) It's "Unlock" button, then I have a message to press # and after pressing # I can press "Dismiss" again to stop the alarm. Spend 50 seconds today morning for understanding it :-) 3. What after 16 days? Thanks for usefull program! Spend a lot of time to find the way to add alarms for weekdays only!
Guest I. C. Monsters Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Kenny, all is good on my post update C500. Many thanks again.
Guest fozzie Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 1. I have to add shortcut to CityAlarm into startup folder or I'll miss alarms after turn off/turn on. Right?!Wrong. CityTime Alarms doesn't need to be running at all (foreground, background or need a daemon) for alarms to go off. You can delete the shortcut you created :P 2. Alarms can not be dismissed by one keypress if the phone is locked. That's a well known issue, as discussed earlier in this thread. It's a limitation of the OS and not the app. Kenny is looking to see if he can find a solution. Obviously it's something that everyone would like to see a solution for ^_^ 3. What after 16 days? The full version will have been released by then (or possibly another beta), so no need to worry :D Spend a lot of time to find the way to add alarms for weekdays only! You mean by selecting 'Recurring' and then right click once to change from 'Daily' to 'Weekdays'?!
Guest kennyg Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 I plan on releasing this weekend, with a few minor fixes that have been brought up here. In addition, I've added 3 new themes, while reducing the memory footprint of the themes from 74KB to 12KB! Let me know what think of these. Kenny. PS, I plan on lightening the white text in the inverted blue LCD theme, so be aware of that.oralcd.gifbluelcd.gifblueilcd.gif
Guest mavisdavis Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Nice work KennyG I like those new screens alot. not found any issues with v.9  to the best of my knowlage. The only fault I do have is that my missus is getting fed up with the cavlery storming in the room at 05:10 every morning ^_^
Guest jeffrey2 Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 CityTime Alarms doesn't need to be running at all (foreground, background or need a daemon) for alarms to go off. You can delete the shortcut you created ^_^Sounds good. But doesn't work for me. Just (at 18:31) set alarm for 18:33 (I'm in Moscow, Russia). And quit CityTime (Menu -> Done). Checked Task Manager and found no applications runnig. It's 18:36 - still no alarm...... :-( Spend a lot of time to find the way to add alarms for weekdays only! You mean by selecting 'Recurring' and then right click once to change from 'Daily' to 'Weekdays'?! No! I mean that was before I found CityTime :-) (Thanks to lukeap69!)
Guest I. C. Monsters Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Can we start giving you money yet Kenny?
Guest kennyg Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Most of you will be free copies for helping out, if you've sent or posted a reasonable bug or idea, I'll be sending you key for the app, if I miss anyone, just drop me a PM or email. Thanks for all the help guys! Kenny.
Guest mavisdavis Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 Do I count [-o:D Heres hoping eh!
Guest poodoo Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 well beta 8 didnt work for me and my classic mio 8380 ( that usual "open flip in the morning and it rings" issue).... i gonna try beta 9 tonight. pray that i wake up to the alarm ^_^
Guest drblow Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 All those new themes look nice m8! Looking forward to the release.
Guest exe Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 hmm, the only issue i seem to be having is, although my system clock is set to GMT, when i go into world clock view, it lists my time and then below, it lists the supposed GMT time, which is one hour earlier, where it should be the same.. reinstalled and still the same thing.. Bug?
Guest poodoo Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 just to say that it ring this morning. fresh installation of beta 9, soft resetted phone, flip closed, no background apps. ^_^ working. will test if it works with wmp in background. It works with wmp in background this time. :D interesting.
Guest SolidTechie Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Great App, thanks. One thought. I have a number of regular (ie repeating) alarms set up, and use other alarms as and when. Is it possible to have the expired one off alarms self delete - either when they are done, or at some default setting say 24 hours later? Or have it as a user definable setting somewhere? Thanks, Ian
Guest Arsair Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Hi again. The beta seems to be working on my MPX 220. Great plugin! When will the newest beta comeout? This one expires on Nov 3.
Guest scottb Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Kenny, Beta 9 seems to be working fine. I do have to get rid of your lcd font if I want to use Opera but that's not your fault. I deleted the alarms database and put them in after the new install. They worked fine after that. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kennyg Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Great App, thanks. One thought. I have a number of regular (ie repeating) alarms set up, and use other alarms as and when. Thanks, Ian I'll add that in a later release, I've already got a few other small items on the list... Kenny.
Guest kennyg Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 hmm, the only issue i seem to be having is, although my system clock is set to GMT, when i go into world clock view, it lists my time and then below, it lists the supposed GMT time, which is one hour earlier, where it should be the same.. reinstalled and still the same thing.. Bug? What time zone/city do you have selected as your home city? There is no GMT timezone on any microsoft platform as they always support Daylight time. Kenny
Guest izzyK Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Kenny, I installed v9 when you posted it and it's working really well. I'm on C500, pre-update. I like the idea of one-off alarms self-deleting. But I don't like the idea of having to confirm a snooze or a dismiss of an alarm. At that time of the morning I can't read the screen, so I can't be making choices. I know the left button will dismiss it and the right will snooze. I can't cope with any more than that. ^_^ I noticed the World time coming up as GMT before I set it to anything else. Of course, GMT was one hour earlier that UK time until tis morning. I wonder if whoever was having the problem has found that it's adjusted itself now. One last thing. My clock stuck at 1.09 am this morning. I wonder if it was when windows was trying to change the time? Did anyone else have the problem. When I looked at it this morning, I went into world alarm ,and only then did the clock start ticking again. I don't think it's anything to do World alarm, but I'll make sure I'm not relying on the alarm at the next clock change. Once again, kenny, thanks for the great work on this. Isabelle
Guest fozzie Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 But I don't like the idea of having to confirm a snooze or a dismiss of an alarm. I was asking for a confirm just on a dismiss, so as not to get caught out if the wrong one was hit, whilst half asleep ^_^
