You can no longer play voice notes in general? OR you can't record them?

Kenny.

I can't listen to my recorded voice notes.

Btw, my phone is a Qtek 8080

Voice notes seems to be fine on my c500. I'm also having the same problem with uninstalling as fozzie!

It's the same issue as with the install, the setup fails because it's trying to remove notifications it thought it added, when I send the new one, just install over the old (it will give you this option after the uninstall fails).

Thanks for the info kennyg, im in the process of downloading embedded c++ v4, i do c++ coding for a living (well i shout 'yeehaar' alot and hack and whack to the best of my abilities :) ) so it should be easier for me to code in c++ with regard to TAPI then mess around with c# and .net.

Here goes my list of suggestions & possible bugs:

1. Snooze time between 5 & 10 minutes. Suggest 7 mins.

2. When the alarm screen is on (during an alarm), may I suggest using only Left & Right on the joystick to adjust the snooze time - just to prevent accidental changing by pressing Up or Down.

3. Look in Storage CardMy Documents for .wavs as well as StorageMy Documents.

4. For recurring alarms, add an option for every 2 weeks (my recycling bin goes out every two weeks!) or perhaps even selectable every 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 weeks.

5. The default Loops per Ring setting is not carried through when creating a new alarm.

6. I'm not sure if this is by design or not but the time between rings gets progressively longer. I timed it at 0 secs, 8 secs, 21 secs, 43 secs and then the pattern repeats again at 2 mins 0 secs. Personally, I prefer a regular gap between 'rings' of ~5 secs. Would it be feasible to have a user configurable repeat cycle, adjustable in seconds?

And finally, everyone's dream:

7. A Homescreen plug-in.

One thing I forgot to ask:

It would be really useful if the alarm could be snoozed & dismissed when the homescreen/keypad is locked. Is this feasible?

I know that the 'Home' button can be used when the phone is locked - I use HotButton Plus, which is called up by double tapping the home key. It is usually called up when the keypad is unlocked but it does also work when it is locked (unfortunately you can't then do anything with the app until the keypad is unlocked but this could be an avenue worth exploring? e.g. alarm goes off, double tap home to snooze (user configurable perhaps for default action - snooze or dismiss?)).

Thanks.

So, Fozzie - is the app working on your c500 now? If so, what version & how did you get it to work? I installed beta 4, but it didn't work over the other version. I emailed kennyg but got no reply yet.

Sure is :) Went through several iterations with Kenny and it seems like he's cracked it. I imagine he's re-packaging a new beta - or resting his brain after so much re-coding!

Cool. Spoke to Kenny, and am just testing the new version ...

:) Cool! Everything seems to be working now. Anyone else with a c500 getting the same volume no matter what it is set at?

Posted

Everything still working fine on my C500. (Not had the chance to check the volume issue DrBlow raised).

One thing that does worry me a little bit is that the Dismiss button is the same one used to unlock the keypad/homescreen. I'm worried that if I accidentally double tap the unlock button the alarm will be dismissed and I'll fall asleep and miss work! One suggestion would be to swap the dismiss & snooze buttons around, so the worse that could happen is the alarm goes off again in a few minutes. Perhaps a better way would be to have a confirmation dialogue that comes up on an alarm dismiss ("Are you sure?" type thing).

sorry for the late reply, been busy. I will test to if you still need testers?

The volume thing seemed to fix itself after a reboot! :) This is brilliant!! There have been plenty of alarm apps in the past, but nothing comes even close to this one. I really like the LCD theme!!

One small issue, this morning when the alarm was going off, it would ring once, then return to the homescreen. The alarm was still going off, and a click on the back key got me into the alarm app to snooze it. Not a big deal really, but one of the beauties of this app is one-click snooze (as opposed to reminders where you have to select a menu first! ).

Not seen that happen yet, and have set quite a few alarms now. I'll keep my eye out for it.

I plan on adding a Beta 5 this evening, that addes fixes for the C500.

Additionally, in contains:

- semi-weekly reminders

- user selectable sound path (in addition to normal locations) with browse

- some general graphic cleanup

- make the alarm screen stay on top when an alarm is sounding (ignores the back and home keys and stays on top)

- misc. bug fixes

I'm hoping this is the last beta!

I'd also like feedback on the ease of use, did anyone not undertand something about the interface immediately on using it? I want the best user exceperience possible, so all information in this regard is impotant to me.

Did anyone have to ro try to read the help file? (Yes, there is help file!) Any issues with it?

One thing I have had some questions on is the alarm repeatability. Currently, it plays on start, then after 5 seconds of silence, then 15 seconds, then 30. Then it repeats. I can imagine this could be interpreted as either annoying or not annoying enough, depending on each individual or alarm type. I've also had reqests to be able to modify this behaviour, but I do NOT want the interface to get any more complicated, so I have a proposal.

What if each alarm had a personality type in addition to the notification type, for example, my first thoughts are "calm", "persistant", and "really annoying". Thoughts on additional personalities or the idea in general?

Thanks,

Kenny.

Looking forward to the new beta! :)

After quite a bit of use, I'd say the user experience so far is great! The interface is easy to read/use, there are plenty of options, & I'm loving the LCD theme!!

For me personally, I don't think you need to add any more to it. The default options may be annoying, but you can change pretty much everything. The addition of choosing how often the rings go off would be a nice extra though.

The only things I have noticed have been as mentioned before, sometimes the alarm will go off & just flick back to the homescreen. This seems to be completely random, & its definately not me hitting any keys, coz I left it sitting on the desk in front of me to test & it still happened. But only once out of 3 trys.

Also, there is a very slight bit of the time display in the LCD theme which is cut off. IT could just be the font, but the no. 7 has the cvorner cut off. It's petty I know, and it's not in any way affecting the use of the app, but I just thought I'd mention it in passing! So you can see what I mean, I've attatched a jpg.

Other than that ... good work fella! Keep it up!

Great news about the extra features.

I'd say the ease of use is great. I must admit I've not looked at the help file but then haven't really needed to. I'll have a browse later.

I think your idea for alarm 'personalities' is spot on. It allows the user to choose the alarm pattern but without making things too complex. I like it :)

I've now got 3 apps that have their fonts changed - Xbar2, Orneta notepad & Codewallet Pro. Any chance you can provide a fix for this?

@DrBlow - what have you got your homescreen timeout set to? It couldn't be that could it, dumping you back to the homescreen? Just a thought.

Posted

Fozzie - no, it's not the timeout, thats set to 10 minutes. By the way, you can stop the font change in orneta notepad by going into the font settings (miscfont settings) and changing the font weight. You get a wee preview so you can see the effects.

CodeWallet will be putting out an updated version soon and it will include a fix for this. Orneta is not longer make changes to their code so I can't do anything about that one, and I'll contact the makers of XBar2 about their app...

Ok, thanks. Is there a workaround I can use for Orneta? It's basically unusable at the moment and I don't have anything else to view/edit .txt & .xml files.

Did the thing I posted above not work?

Kennyg - I think I've found something worth looking at. When I set the default volume in the options menu, it doesn't affect the alarm volume when set to default (in the alarm itself). That means I have to keep setting the volume for every alarm. Is it meant to work that way? It would be loads easier to just set one default volume for all alarms.

kennyg,

regarding help, i think below is not updated

Alarm Sound

A list of all WAV files in either the Windows directory (builtin sounds) or the sounds directory. The sounds directory is in IPMSApplication DataSounds in Windows Mobile 2002, and in StorageApplication DataSounds under Windows Mobile 2003 and above.

as you know, sounds are not located on ApplicationDataSounds.
